Seems to me that these days, most of us have much more to be concerned about from Google, Amazon, and multiple social media sites than LE trying to control what consenting adults do in a bedroom using antiquated morality laws.  The exception would be for those who participate in activities that intersect with human trafficking.  Personally, I hope LE is good enough to find and prosecute those persons to the full extent of the law.

I'll let the article speak for itself but seems to have some implication even if you have a burning phone if you're not restricting the use or what you put on it -- or if you use your real life phone for navigation.

I'd say turning off GPS and turning on vpn is not a bad idea for anything related to this hobby. Yes sometimes it sucks not having GPS on your phone when you need to navigate, but I think it's more than worth it to turn it off.

But if you're using rideshare apps that require you to have location on..... oof... I'd  think you'd have to use location spoofers to make sure you're safe from tracking.

Has to do with the hobby.  I doubt I've ever been in a hotel that didn't have a prostitute somewhere.  That doesn't mean I committed a crime.

I don't think Hobbying includes just those who operate from a hotel. You ever hear the terms "brothel", "trick  pad", etc?

has a fake name and fake address associated with it. In fact, the address is my ATF's, so it makes sense that the phone could be traced to that location often.

This is all much ado about nothing. Likely far easier for LE to just knock on doors if they want to disrupt P4P. They've been using license plate tracking for years to narrow down likely perps for serious crimes. Little difference.

Is not giving you the protection you think if your other phone is being tracked when a strong correlation between the burner phone and your real phone (be it company issued or a personal one) pops up in a broader data mining effort. That is the implication of the article - which it seems people seem to misunderstand. The other implication is that this is not special software or data that is only available for government agencies. It sounds like it is just standard big data mining software that could be sold to anyone.

I do agree that in most cases all the cloak and dagger stuff by people to hide is largely a security blanket in terms of protecting themselves from LE. Your phone is not what is going to get you caught by LE or likely even needed as evidence in court for any conviction. You'll be caught at the scene when you show up and LE is not actually going to be there looking for "you" specifically. They just have the net out and catch what they do.

I doubt LE will waste their time with big data mining operations unless they think they can shut down a large trafficking operation.  If I were LE I could have nabbed at least a half dozen at the Aria casino on a four day trip recently without even trying.  Why go after the ones being careful when you can get the easy fish?

Stick with highly reviewed escorts who are somewhat careful and discrete and you'll be fine.

I agree and don't even use a burner phone largely for that reason.

However, other people have greater need/desire for anonymity but the burner phone is not getting them as far as thy think. If they really want it some additional work is needed on their part. That is the key take away in my view. Rocket's suggestion and link, as he says, are a good start -- probably as much as most people can do and not that much of a burden.

But to be honest I suspect people may actually have a bigger risk from non-LE actors as I don't think this type of software is regulated to only governmental/law enforcement use. Might be the case that the more nefarious out there get better returns using it for something other than blackmailing mongers. Still there have been some reports here about "they knew where I lived but I never gave any such information...." Who knows how that happened but if the guys saying that are being honest and never gave up PII this might be an explanation of how the breach occurred.

Tbh, a burner phone that doesn't do data at all - ie a "dumb" phone that can only text and make calls makes you bypass this whole thing... but it does make your calls and texts, what's the word, being able to be tapped in, "wireable" by the government since sms and phone calls have no inherent encryption.

Either way, this way of tracking is quite interesting, as it doesn't ask for origin per se but it can group the tracked movements per id. It's like using vpn and how all these bitcoin scams are caught. Vpns are anonymous. Yet if you use same VPN for your bank login your bitcoin wallet login and your ter login, you already made two big mistakes because feds can see which ips are used for which logins. For full real anonymous access you'd have to use something like tor and even that isn't perfect (exit nodes have a few issues)  and don't reuse vpnsfor different sites ever. The more different sites you use with same VPN, the higher probability that you can be tracked if feds want it. Now this is probably for much bigger cr!mes than buying pussy but it's always good to know imo.

Any time I have an appointment now I use app that checks for air tags nearby, after I get back into my car.

You can read up how air tags are used by stalkers and cr!minals a lot.

Apple made this tech super powerful (anyone in vicinity of you with an iPhone who has this functionality turned on - and it is turned on by default - can track an airtag). It's actually terrifying. It's like a GPS locator except it has extremely high battery life and theoretically infinite range as long as there is always one iPhone in vicinity with Bluetooth airtag tech turned on.

There is an incredible amount of bleed-through between all of the Social Media (SM) and commercial sites (Amazon, etc.), all determined to connect everyone to everyone else ... whether they want to be connected or not!
.
And that's why I say, "Avoid social media like the plague that it is."
.
And "Beware of the nefarious tentacles of all social media."
.
And warn folks that "Settings and filters will NOT PROTECT YOU from the digital reach of Facebook, Google+ and all of the other behemoths who are there to connect your digital dots whether you want or intend them to or not."
.
"I am rather outspoken about the dangers of social media.  Search the General Board for "nefarious, plague, insidious, pernicious" [Any of these words] for the past couple of years and you are sure to find my posts.  Those threads often have examples of the unexpected and undesired cross over of this world and the real world. The goal of social media is to connect everyone, WHETHER THEY WANT TO BE CONNECTED OR NOT."

Decriminalization or legalization would render this hi-tech tool irrelevant to harmless activities between consenting adults.

It also has a link in the end in regards how to disable your advertising ID.

With this advertising ID disabled plus using VPN and turning off location, I believe should be - while not bulletproof - good defense.

I do smell a lawsuit tho, as tracking this advertising Id seems to vclearly violate at least some privacy laws.

If you're really worried then stick with independent escorts with discreet ads.  LE isn't going to spend millions of dollars on big data, attorneys, courts, just to arrest you and your girlfriend to spend a few nights in jail and a small fine.  They can get that walking down Dem run city streets at night for free.  They're targeting big agencies, trying to shut down trafficking.
