The information that Luscious Laurel supplied (thank you LL) spurred on some research and it appears that polyurethane condoms are the next choice for those allergic to latex.
Some info I found said they didn't have all the approvals, etc., while others said they did, but didn't have the same safety numbers that latex proves. They have been known to break more easily, too, as well as not have as snug a fit. Sounds like there is still room for improvement, although they've come a long way.
Both Durex and Trojan offer a poly condom. Would love to hear your comments..
Urethane condoms are great. There been very few studies using urethane condoms. Personally I have had more breakage problems with latex than urethane. The other advatages are that some people are allergic to latex and urethane doesn't stick to itself, like latex does.
The poly condom feels like a plastic bag; however, it does allow more sensitivity. But you're right, they have a hard ribbing which makes for a little too snug fit for most.
The Trojan kind seems really thick and unyielding to me. I found it hard to work with. I prefer the Avanti Durex but be warned the taste is a little funny.
Yes, I tried one once with my ATF. As first we both felt that the sensation was not as nice. Afterward we decided, laughing, that perhaps it was like toothpaste. You just sort of get used to one brand. Then if you are forced to switch for some reason, you grow to like the new one.
But the whole issue was mute due to the fact that it broke in the heat of the moment and we were forced into coitus interruptis. Decidedly an unpleasant experience.
At one point I thought I had a latex allergy, so I tried Avantis. They bagged out under duress, had no elasticity, and then just slipped off DURING THE ACT. Tried two condoms, end of story, SO I tossed the rest of the box out.
Who knows, maybe since a year ago they have been improved?
They do not stretch in an elastic manner as well as latex. I had better sensation, but they were tight as hell. They tend to slip off quicker upon pull out.
I think someone with a litte practice and expertise could figure them out.
What seems to work best for me is to use large-size latex condoms, even if they're a little baggy in some places. They don't roll up or break from being tight, and men seem to find them more comfortable. For some men, a shaped condom, such as InSpiral, fits best.
Just my experience, and it might not work for everyone. I'd love to hear other ladies' and men's experiences.
I have tried Durex, version of the poly condom "Avanti". Cost wise they are twice as much as the regular latex condom and dont feel as good. I normally refer them to my larger than normal clients because they are very lose fitting, which can make for a scary pull out on someone that is extremely petite. To sum this up,I prefer LATEX. The poly definitly has more than a few cons, I would not use them during a very rigorous session, not much lubrication, and the feel if definitly different, not as smooth as latex
