this hobby has changed since the advent of e-com.  but Why do we go through the rituals we do, if as most of us believe, they will not immunize us from LE?  that is, how does the 2-call system help?  Screening - I can think of a dozen ways around that (actually I know one lady who screens really well, and it would be difficult to put one over on her... - i had her provide me with what she could on me, and it was A LOT!) But how many are that through?

Envelop - what does that do? and so many other thingys.... what protection do any of them provide...

We go through the rituals because every little bit helps. No one thing by itself seems to offer a complete defense to arrest and conviction, but all the little things together may make it more difficult for a successful conviction, which might be enough to not spend time in jail. Not detailing every sexual position in advance and paying in unmarked envelopes without getting a receipt seems to be low cost if it does lower the risk. Just because the risk isn't 0% doesn't mean one should completely abandon all precautions.

Also, the screening process isn't just to screen out law enforcement posing as hobbyists. It is also to hopefully reduce the chances that one is a psycho. As a recent post in this forum and the murders in Ipswich show, there's some nasty people out there.

The procedures may also serve a purpose other than screening. The two-call system confirms the appointment. Lots of people flake. It's a headup to get ready. As much as I would like otherwise, women aren't always perfect with every hair in place.

There isn't to much that can really protect you from LE as far as a two call system goes or another provider even.  Two call system can be a vice without a doubt.  Job information, how hard would it be for a cop to make up a false job and have another fellow vice be there to answer and verify his employment.  MMMMM As far as another provider reference, there was a poll done by a provider who made up a false gentlemen and called other providers to see if the could verify the fasle guy.  You'd be suprised at how many gave the ok.
I think screening is a very important thing and you'd be suprised at the sources that are available to do so.  I probably do a far more in depth screening of which I never keep but makes me feel a thousand times more comfortable.  As far the envelope, I love how some want it blank and others want "Gift" wrote on it.  What does this really do?  If you are in the room with LE the envelope won't get you out of trouble.  I perfer so there is no dicusion of anything but what does it do for us?  NOTHING..   I love your post and think it was a very great topic to bring up.

Tasha

bought access to a background database.  As I said, I asked her to do a background on me, even though we had known each other - and were friends.  She found out a lot about me, including the EX! Quite frankly, I would hire her to do a background check on others... including the dude my ex married (because he is near my kids! and I just do not trust him).

That aside - I think that is the best way to check.  Personally, if I am comfortable with the lady - I provide her with a lot of information about me, and my professional life... but - then again, I am taking a calculated risk - but that only seems fair.

As far as the previous poster states - that the screening is not only to guard against LE, I am aware of that.  But I can honestly say, and I use this rule of thumb in hiring workers for my business- it is VERY easy to be charming and witty for a couple of hours - or 15 min on the phone... So I usually hire folks on a temporary basis, until I see their performance over a period of days, stress levels and performance ups and downs... Were I a provider - I would leap for joy, every time I get a repeat customer with whom I, at least, feel comfortable (and who does not smell!). Cause in those instances, past performance is an indicator of current and future performance (good or bad).

Yea, until this hobby is legal, none of us can be totally secure - no matter what precautions we take

thing called CIS and that isn't Clueless In Seattle either.  LOL  But it shows way more than needed and I onestly only use it when I have question that the person is who they say or references don't check out. So your friend isn't the only smart one.
