the new mail notification still displays

It's moved to the top right of the screen.  Go to where it says "Welcome, -Curmudgeon".  Under the VIP member banner, it will tell you how many messages you have.

My eyesight sucks, and New TER gives me a headache

Classic TER was, and still is, the best discussion format on the internet. I will use it as long as it remains an option.

I will confess, NEW TER has been refined a bit and is much better that the POS it started off to be, but Classic is still vastly superior IMO

Hey, can you imagine what it's like to be both slant eyed and cross eyed??? lol

TER deserves kudos for a few of the actual improvements they have made, but visually NEW TER is not one of them.

The web designer obviously did not test how it look on a variety of screens for readability

There is too little contrast between some backgrounds and some type, some fonts are to thin and light colored to easily distinguish, The emoticona are indistinguishable from one another. And don't even TRY to view it on a smartphone with out using the worthless "mobile" version.

I'm starting to get used to "New TER", but still prefer classic TER.

There are a few things that still bug the shit out of me about  New TER format:

Print & emoticons are too small on New TER. Board contrast is worse. Colors are worse. Classic was/is easier on the eyes.

Correct me if I'm wrong - New TER doesn't alert a member to NEW MAIL with an icon up top? Classic does.
It seems I have to click on mail and then see IF I have mail?

I still think having the board options on the LEFT on Classic  is easier than all those clicks up top.

There are a lot of old fart regular posters on this board that I'm sure agree with me. I'm not old & my eye site is better than 20/20, but NEW TER is not as user friendly or legible as Classic IMO.

I agree Gambler NEW TER  visually Gives me a headache & makes me cross eyed too. Why they haven't fixed it visually or made the print & emoticons larger is beyond my comprehension?  Colors/contrast are horrible, & the old mail system with envelope alert was better.

I give them kudos for adding review/PM aliases, and service has generally gotten much better (those things could have been done with Classic) , but visually NEW TER is a mess.

Easy fix. Press cntl and the plus key twice (zoom in)...will make your display noticably larger...

As for PM notifications, that's displayed in blue in the welcome box right under the VIP Member banner.  No icon, just text telling you that you have new messages.

As far as old TER goes (I mean Classic), there will come a day when the powers that be will pull the plug on it for good.  The Classic format has been around since 2005...how many other websites out there haven't changed their interface appreciably since then?
