Most of us adhere to the principle that Cash is King. For those Providers who do use PP and CC, I was wondering:  

Does a series of payments such as 400, 400, 400, 400, 400, 800, 400, 400 ...
attract more scrutiny than 387.62, 414.14, 296.50 + 115.73, 783.27, ... ?

Does it make any sense to ask your visitors to tender your normal rate +/- $20 to create some random numbers?

Does it depend on whether your "business" sounds like it sells goods or services? "Custom suits, tailored to your needs" = random numbers. "TER Consulting" = integer multiples of base rate (200, 400, 600, ...).

I'm not saying it would work. Just wondering.

Oh ... it is generally recommended that you NOT use regular PP. They can seize your assets for breach of the terms of service. They play hardball with seized assets.

The majority, if not ALL providers prefer cash to any other form of payment for obvious reasons. Hence this is an intricate question to fathom.

So here are a few examples...

1. Myself- To take a credit card their is a service charge. My Cc transactions tend to be 456.12 because I charge my rate plus the percentage is cost me to process the charge.  

On the other hand...

2. My BFF- She charges a flat rate. So her CC transactions tend to be for 320.00 or 520.  

I personally don't like to eat the prossesing fees so I add that charge in. Her on the other hand depending on how much she is charging sometimes she has to eat the processing fees.  

Personally I tend to recommend guys just buy a visa gift card with their credit card as it spends just like cash.

I was wondering more about whether or not the computers (or live eyes reviewing accounts) take more note of recurring round numbers, such as the cost of an hour of someone's time, or if a series of random payments creates a more innocent appearance, suggesting customized orders or variable shipping charges and such.  

Leading to, IF both parties agree to a CC transaction, is it worth the trouble to ask a gentleman caller to pay an oddball amount rather than a nice round amount? ($#87.84 is a friendly discount from the higher 00; $#16.42 is a built in tip or the promise of a slightly looonger hour.)

Probably not for that level of money.

All those in the payments industry are subject to the Anti Money Laundering and Ant Terrorist Funding laws that impose a "know your customers" type policy. So yes, they will have things scanning transactions to keep the feds from shutting them down or fining them heavily. Yes, one could argue that such payment fall into part of the AML rules (illegal activity and funds generated by them) but unless she's generating something that makes it look like she's trying to move more than 10,000 in cash via multiple transactions probably not going to trigger any alarms.

That said, do you really want a paper trail and is cash that difficult to work with?
