Another stupid post, I know. But I was reviewing my iTunes library after the recent dud of a NYC snowstorm, and came across a few songs that resonate to me with moving on from a favorite provider. All suggestions welcome and please flame me if this was done before. Millenials are free to update grandpa on their choices as well.
Goodbye Stanger Supertramp
Go Your Own Way Fleetwood Mac
Can We Still Be Friends Robert Palmer
I Used To Love Her GNR
so FUCK YOU!
from Nillson Schmillson.
Paul Simon's original. Always worth a listen...
Someone like you - Adele
Irreplaceable - Beyonce
who is fancy - goodbye
same drugs - misterwives version or orginal by chance the rapper
octahate - ryn weaver
someone new - Hozier
This song is so nihilistic that it's funny:
"I hope that our few remaining friends
Give up on trying to save us
I hope we come out with a fail-safe plot
To piss off the dumb few that forgave us
I hope the fences we mended
Fall down beneath their own weight
And I hope we hang on past the last exit
I hope it's already too late
And I hope the junkyard a few blocks from here
Someday burns down
And I hope the rising black smoke carries me far away
And I never come back to this town again in my life
I hope I lie
And tell everyone you were a good wife
And I hope you die
I hope we both die
I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow
I hope it bleeds all day long
Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises
We're pretty sure they're all wrong
I hope it stays dark forever
I hope the worst isn't over
And I hope you blink before I do
And I hope I never get sober
And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say
And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way
I am drowning
There is no sign of land
You are coming down with me
Hand in unlovable hand
And I hope you die
I hope we both die"
Adele-Send my love (to your new lover)
Definite add to the over 40 crowd! Thank you.
Beautiful song recommended to me by a client I used to see a while back. I've been obsessed. I put it down for a while, but picked it back up recently. Just a deep, soulful song about exchanging his "first love" of drinking for human love.

Just a few weeks ago I punched it up with a cigar and a glass of scotch. (Yes I see the irony)
Chris Stapelton's is probably my favorite, but Jamey Johnson did a great job with it too.

I'd have to say one of my favorites to sing now.
the best "I'm pissed at women" band.

Your Love! The Outfield
Oops, oh....moving on ...NOT moving on.....
Movin’ on….
There's a place in the sun
Where there's hope for ev'ryone
Where my poor restless heart's gotta run
There's a place in the sun
And before my life is done
Got to find me a place in the sun
--A Place in the Sun by Stevie Wonder
An oldie, but even if this song’s lyrics are kind of sappy….it’s hopeful. And, for those who post now and then about a session(s) gone south, lost ATF’s attention, disillusioned about what to do next in this unorthodox mirror-go-round game …good vibes can come around again with the right attitude; it may even rekindle good feelings that lead to chemistry…but sometimes, being hopeful is all there is to go on....

...leave it to Dylan.
No. For Dylan, the ultimate blow-off song is "Like a Rolling Stone". Man, he's mean in that song.
Another good Dylan blow off song (to the folk crowd) was "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue".
Yeah, and let's not forgot Positively 4th Street. He was an angry guy.
Other's might seem to think so ....
So long and thanks for all the fish.
So sad that it should come to this.
I tried to warn you all but, oh dear.
You may not share my intellect.
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you.
So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish
(Not my real pic. I didn't know how to blur the face on my real pic.)

I like an amicable moving on.... the hopeless romantic in me I suppose. I'm a once loved, never forgotten kind a woman. I suppose it's a modern day "Irish Blessing" of sorts on St Patty's Day no less!
My Wish
Rascal Flatts
I hope the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you wanna go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile.
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.
THE BEST BREAK UP SONG EVEERRRRR
George Michael - Waiting For That Day
"So every day I see you in some other face
They crack a smile, talk a while
Try to take your place
My memory serves me far too well..."
Rest in peace, GM.
I've lost count of how many times I've played it. But the lyrics couldn't be more moving...
I have poured out my heart
Laid it right here for you
And I've tried so hard
That's the best that I can do
Please understand I am not who I was
You used to be all that I had,
Now you're just not what I need
I've got to get over you
And I know then I can get back to me
Tears forget, that's more than I can do
'Cause they don't wash away
All the things that we've been through
I've put behind me my share of the shame
We could call villains but it's all in vain
You used to be all that I had
Now your just not what I need
I've got to get over you
And I know then I can get back to me
Classic about all the girls in a mans' life
...great tune.
....Kinky Friedman
There were many songs from the 60s that were break up songs.
Here are a handful of my favs.
She's Not There-Zombies
Time Won't Let Me-Outsiders
The Things I Should Have Said-Grass Roots
Flying on the Ground is Wrong--Buffalo Springfield
Without You--Nilsson
A Case of You--Joni Mitchell (always hits me hard)
Looking Glass--The Association
Sunday Will Never Be the Same--Spanky & Our Gang
Since You've Gone--Spanky again (another tear-out-your-heart song, at least for me)
For No One and, of course, Yesterday--the Beatles
Maybe it's becoming clear I've listened to far too many of these breakup songs ...
Goodbye Stanger Supertramp
Go Your Own Way Fleetwood Mac
Can We Still Be Friends Robert Palmer
I Used To Love Her GNR
SuperMan ain't got nothing on us! We are here to save your day!
Perfect when it doesn't end well...
Excellent song.

There are no stupid posts.
I haven't lost my short term memory, I just misplace it more often.. Heard this the other day on Sirius 80's channel and think it beats out Dylan's "Don't Think Twice" Besides Patty is way better looking than Bob, even if her taste in John McEnroe is questionable
From the movie bodyguard 💋💋
"Sail On", The Commodores
Sing it with me now.......lol.
"Heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who,......"
Old school classic.
