Are you saying that you saw an alias with the envelope?  How did you know it was an alias as opposed to a regular handle?

Or conversely, did you see a regular handle without the envelope?  Be careful in those cases because it is possible to create an alias that seems to be somebody's regular handle but has a little period or other punctuation mark inserted which is easy to miss, or the spelling could have been changed subtly.

OK...I thought I knew. But now not sure. It was my understanding the missing envelope was the clue.  Apparently that is not correct.

I think it's chicken-shit. And you, LP, and other Mods have reprimanded me for my posts, right or wrong.

But I've always said what I mean, and mean what I say, and let them know where it's coming from.

Is this right? In my mind it is. But I'm a different breed.

Am I right? Maybe not. For the same reason.

My point is, there are few of us that will post and don't give a shit what others think.

I've taken my lumps, and come back for more. I'm that stubborn.

BUT, I know my limits, for the most part, as well as the Mods knowing what I can get away with.

I use aliases for about 20% of my posts.

You know why? HUMOR. Not to be a chicken-shit and snipe at people from illusory safety.

Another reason I will use them is to be nice to someone without them knowing who is being nice.

Sometimes, especially lately with me realizing people have this INCORRECT view of aliases, I have actually put my regular handle inside my alias posts.

So -- go have a drink because you have every right not to use them. But don't make an ASS out of U and ME by assuming they are just used for chicken shit purposes.

Actually, even though I make wine and stuff; I seldom drink more than a sip. I just don't like the way alcohol makes me feel. So I'll have a sip for sampling/blending/etc, but have never had more than half a glass.

Mostly for humor, occasionally to post on controversial subject manner.  In my case, about 5% of the time...I am almost always upfront when posting, even when being critical.  Being a stand-up guy requires you to stand up, and the ladies respect that.  As for the other hobbyists, with certain exceptions, I could care less what they think, or say.  When I feel the need to to post my three pennies, I do so...and let the chips fall where they may...

The way I see it the term alias AS USED on this board is any name other than the one on your TER birth certificate.
For the purpose of this board The name on your TER birth certificate is your "real name" (so to speak) and any other name you use is an alias
As for me, I suppose,technically,  you could say I  have numerous aliases, however since the Followme family is so large I allow my cousins and other family menbers to sign on using my TER log in name then go to their names such as
SantaFollowmeClaus
FatherFollowme
EasterFollowmeBunny
PopeFollowmeLXIX
DrFollowmeOBGYN
RabbiFollowme
Followmeopolis
ClassFollowmeClown
CoachFollowme
to name just a few of my family (there are many others )
So technically these are aliases , however in my case they are all real  members of the followme family.
To the best of my knowledge they do behave themselves.
