LOL, I still don't see it as glorifying, more like watching a car wreck as you're driving by.
It's a riff on those Cathouse and Streetwalking shows. Gigolos has little novelty over those.
And cable tv has been trying to make programming as steamy as possible without crossing over into porn. It's as real as any reality tv and pro wrestling, which is to say scripted and not like RL.
You mean you didn't like ... (pic)

Please don't ask me why I was watching.
I truly think Dr. Phil is the antichrist..
I was stoned okay!!!
Anyway..
He had a female hobbyist on..
She was glorified as some type of equal opportunity, liberated woman.
Her male escorts were cheered on as if they were stars as they shook their shit.
(Also.. Ugly ass guys.. I'm better looking)
The women in the audience cheered for her. "You go girl!" All of that.
I remember thinking how differently the audience would have taken it if the roles were reversed.
The woman escorts would have been viewed as victims. Shamed, and looked down upon.
The male Johns would have been offenders to the human race..
It's pathetic how closed minded people can be.
