Totally OFF the wall question ...

I have noticed that many Latinas were low cut blouses which readily reveal their feminine endowment. It seems that it is much more prevalent in the Spanish American ladies than say Caucasian or AA ladies.

I have always wondered if this was a cultural thing but ... being that I am a 50+ white guy, there is no way to ask or phrase this question to a Latina wearing a low cut blouse that won't end up in 1) a lawsuit, 2) getting my ass kicked by a boyfriend, 3) being called a dirty old man in a lot of Spanish words I won't understand or all of the above.

That said, is the "low cut top" a cultural thing for Latinas?

Just curious.

Although I'm the "Whitest Latina on Earth" (so my friends say), here is my input:
 
I think it stems from Latina women as viewing our bodies as gifts.  We should not be ashamed of a few extra pounds or curves--that kind of thing.  Being comfortable with our feminine curves is not just sexy, but a gift to be...ummm.. shared?  Drawn attention to?  Hard to explain in such a rush...

How about this:  Have you seen the movie "Spanglish"?  They touch on this when contrasting the character of Tea Leoni and Paz Vega (I hope I got those names right!).  Tea is the uptight "white" woman, and Tea is the passionate, sexy, natural Latina.  

Cleavage "happens."

Then overnight they are wearing turtlenecks with Levi overalls in August.
After squirting out two or more niños and gaining 30+lbs the plunging necklines as well as high heels while grocery shopping or touring Disneyland will again be allowed by the progenitor male.

Latino's were in LA long before Anglos. Most white chicks don't fare any better after popping out a couple of kids, or black chicks too for that matter.

If you were trying to be funny, it was a lame effort. Somehow I think you are serious. If you lodn't like latinos I'd suggest you move to......Uh I'm not really sure where the fuck you are going to go, hey try Sweden, maybe that's white enough for you?

Perhaps it is time to pile on O F F for prejudging Latina females as a culture of salaciously dressed provocateurs.

 If certain observations of mine appear as prejudicial or racist perhaps it is because I was married for thirteen years to a third generation Mexican American woman who regularly pointed out both subtle and blatant cultural characteristics as well as her indignation to Anglo business/political efforts to pander to her culture.

First, I dont recall saying anything about Latinas being "salaciously dressed provocateurs".

I have noted the tendency of Latinas to wear low cut blouses in my area of the country and thought it curious. That being the case and as I originally stated, I thought this forum would be a safe place to ask the question without offending anyone. Obviously, that was an incorrect assumption on my part. Consequently, for any of you that I have offended with regard to this matter, please forgive me.

Second, if you are going to rebuke me, please do me the courtesy of spelling my name correctly ... OFF.

I didn't frig'n "rebuke" you. I merely alluded to the fact that my observations/comments were no more racist than your observation of ubiquitous décolletage within the Latino culture.

Forthwith I will most certainly honor your name with the proper pedantic spacing of your initials just as I have made wearing an American Flag lapel pin a daily vindication of my unwavering patriotism.    

Any other trivial semantics wish to be addressed?

My apology was a ubiquitous apology to all those, you included, who might be offended by my non-political curiosity with regard to the Latinas penchant  for wearing décolletages or décolleté dresses.

If perchance it has escaped your memory since our last discussions, I am the purveyor (not panderer) of all things boobiage (plural form of boobage as derived from boobies and boob repectively) and from thus was my initial inquiry begotten.

FWIW I have told OFF exactly what I think about his portrayal of "salaciously dressed provocateurs" of all races. I believe my exact words were "If you ever stop I will hunt you down" ROFL

 My Ex was quite forthright in her depiction of Latino males often being extraordinarily possessive of their women, yet ironically given to hunting down the most sexily dressed females only to demand they demonstrably dowdy-up once a relationship had been established between them.

 Child birth and is fairly universal in its effects on the female body; with daily diet and socio-economic pressures (or lack of) also contributing.

The hot latina blood may lend to the style, but that's about it. When stores stop producing these tops and they stop being popular, maybe girls will stop wearing them. Until then, you might notice it's a function of both age and area as well. Girls in LA and Miami and NY dress much differently than girls in Oklahoma.
