OJ not guilty of anything other than stupidity?

O.J.'s defense attorney said:

"In Mr. Simpson's mind . . . what he was doing truly was a retrieval of his own property. What it was, was a highly emotional, stupid act that violated the law. Stupidity is not criminality."  No shit!  Did this guy need a law degree to figure that one out?   Stupid thinking is not against the law, but when stupid thinking results in criminal behavior, the punishment is justly earned.

I'm sure when he committed double homicide,  OJ believed in his mind that he was simply retrieving his own property.  It's the same neanderthal mentality that's on display when the first words out of a client's mouth to a provider is: "Take off your clothes.  I wanna see what I bought."

There continues to be a blind adulation of sports and other media heroes that implicitly validates this kind of ugly behavior.  Look no further than all the delicately worded attempts that were initially heard  to dismiss Plaxico Burress' arrogant disregard for anything or anyone outside the orbit of his personal ego.

To get an earful, all you have to do is listen to the news, or the radio talk show hosts... little true investigative reporting, and absolutely no unbiased reporting anywhere... and finally, where they need to just report and stut up- the feel the need to tell me "what it all means" as if I am too stupid to make any sense of it all.... while they offer little true insight.

yea, wonderful I really only respect very few of the public figures - so few deserve it.  But I'd like to have mindless sex with Elza Dushku.... and if you wonder why see Nobelson.... An incredibly great movie - about the reality of pompus academics!

carry a gun, or having a group of thugs with guns.
A stupid person with a loaded gun is dangerous, to others, and hopefully to themselves!  This time OJ's arrogance did him no good.  He hasn't been out of trouble since his murder circus...damn it must follow the poor guy...everyone was out to get OJ!  Horse s**t!!!
He's been eveading the system for 14 years, time and time again.  Time to go to the big house, and make someone a nice wife!!!!

very large, tough, homosexual. Unfortunately because of his celebrity status they have decreed that he will serve his term in isolation.

for a man who lived to be worshiped by men and women alike.
Consequently, I think the only real value in him doing serious time lies not in our satisfaction for vengeance, but rather to send a strong message that celebrity isn't a shield from moral responsibility.

that they are above the law, that laws that ordinary folks like us have to follow don't apply to them. I'm  glad Fred Goldman was at O.J.'s sentencing. It won't bring his son back, but he had to have gotten some kind of satisfaction.

I guess Forrest Gump had it correct when he said "Stupid is as Stupid does!"

Unfortunately, the police and prosecutors were even dumber, and equally dumb were the racial politics that compromised the trial.

With sports figures, I sometimes think we're creating a millionaire gangster class.

I love sports, but I refuse to watch what I refer to as "thugball" not that the atheltes of other sports are much better.
