TER General Board

Thank you for your thoughtful and witty put-down.

It's rare to find such insight in an adult.  It's usually reserved for those going through the hormonal ravages of puberty.

I have used many handles over my five years of posting on this site.   So while this one may not agree with you, I'm sure you've loved me as someone else, some other time.

As I said above, I'm taking a break from all this cameraderie for a while.  I'm not sure I could take any more of this keen insight, wisdom or wit.  And of course the open minds, as you so cleverly turned a phrase to insult me.  Yes, I'll miss that sort of cleverness the most.  Good times.

As a Minnesotan with some experience in this, just keep repeating to yourself, "I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him, I didn't vote for him."

Don't worry, he will screw it up, and he will not get re-elected.  I promise you, it will get better.

Well, our new guy is not much better, but he is certainly less embarrassing.

I don't know how true the article is, but if true, it is disturbing.

Worse than an old lady.  I think this is it for me and TER.

I'll check back in a few months and see if the boards have returned to talk about something other than leftist politics.

Watergate taught me to be wary of all politicians.
They are corruptable human beings just like everyone else. Intoxicated with power, that feeds the ego.

Dick Cheney is just another sleazy politician. I wouldn't put anything past him. It is no coincidence Halliburton received the contracts to work on Iraq's reconstruction.

We'll catch you upon your return IM....don't wait too long, the presidential primaries are rapidly approaching.

Peace. Hope thats not too leftist for you...:)

I see, so only right wing political views are cool with you?

.... how ironic, given your alias.

I dig your definition of a leftist: one who disagrees with any propaganda eminating from the hard right.

Tell you what, why don't you ask your cronies on the hard right what they think of your hobbying and get back to me.

Myself personally, I am probably libertarian politically, but the guys currently in charge have demonstrated themselves to be really bad news.

urban legend that become "fact" in the re-telling.  But thanks you for putting words in my mouth and accusing me of being on the hard right.

The fact is, I'm just getting tired of everything that's happened here, and elsewhere for that matter, and that's why I'm taking a break from TER.  I've been posting on this board for five years using various names, and it's just no longer enjoyable.  Now, at age 53, I guess maybe I've finally outgrown it.  The hard-edged attitudes, lack of respect, inflexibility, put-downs and decline in the level of discourse.

But that said, everybody who has attacked me on this and the LA board,  is probably right. I've had a very tough and stressful week.  That, combined with my long-term disappointment in how the TER discussion boards have degenerated over the years- the tone, the content, the humor, the ideas etc. and you can't help but feel the loss. So yeah, it showed in my comments.

I just don't consider moronic put-downs or political shouting matches to be provocative, intelligent or entertaining- just tedious.  Flames when you're past the age 19 are just pathetic.  So I'm in the minority on this one, that's why I'm leaving.  Knock yourselves out guys.

I think the Inquiring Mind just snapped shut.  If he is that upset by one post lets just let him go over to the Teddy Bear Club. I think you picked a pretty shity aliasas for such a narrow mind.

The problem with articles of this sort is whether or not the publication and/or the author have any agenda, & almost invariably they do...whether from the left or the right.  Those who agree will often accept opinions as the gospel truth without evidence to support the position, or else 'evidence' taken out of context.  I don't know anything about the author or his political leanings, but much of what he's written is opinion & inuendo.

Everyone keeps harping on the Enron issue as though nothing else matters.  There ARE other special interest groups (unfortunately) who have weilded similar influence.  And it's been reported from several sources in the past that Gray Davis received more $ from Enron than any candidate running for a state office.  IMO he might as well have joined Pete Rose on the autograph circuit the way he sold his signature.  But it's not really fair of me to single him out alone as the vast majority of all these politicians are for sale in one way or another, so if stones are to be tossed there isn't a lot of selectivity needed in order to hit a deserving target.

If one looks objectively at the 'evidence' cited by both sides regarding Davis, Bustamante, Swarzenegger, et al, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a paragon of vitue among them.

Here's Clinton stumping for Enron / seeking their counsel....

Here's Enron pushing for the Kyoto Protocol http://www.aim.org/publications/media_monitor/2002/01/24.html

MY POINT.  Democrats and Republicans =BOTH= have been in bed with Enron for quite awhile.

Both Democrats and Republicans have been in bed with the major corporations for quite awhile. The major difference is that the two parties favor slightly different corporations for the most part.

There is more to be said about Enron and Kyoto. I include a link to "Why Enron Loved Kyoto, and the EU Shouldn't" by William O'Keefe published as an Op-Ed piece in the Wall Street Journal on July 25, 2002.

I agree Ca guy... I can't imagine that an "inquiring mind" such as his name suggests wouldn't want to hear the "other" side...

Speaking of Arnold... forget his past Nazi support (interview 1975 and his father being a Nazi) forget that he sexually harassed many women who have come forward...

What about his statement that he's going to redo the deal with the Native Americans and the casinos and take THEIR money?

My GOD if there is one group who really deserves any money it's the American Indian who was royally screwed over....

Anyway, left, right, it's good to hear them all.

And i hate when someone threatens not to come back to the board because they can't handle hearing someone else's views.

Everything below this paragraph was copied directly from http://www.alternet.org/about_us.html You can't make this shit up.  Wouldn't an Independent Media Institute have at least ONE staff member who isn't a volunteer for the Lieberman campaign?  Just for the record, I think Gary Coleman would have made a better governor than The Governator.  Ahnold did such a good job with Planet Hollywood, just imagine what he can do with a bankrupt state.  Come on San Andreas!  It's time to cull the herd!
