Years ago, we had so much fun in the chatroom!  

I didn't see it on the beta version, and was wondering if it was going to come back?

Did anyone else enjoy it back in the day as much as I did haha

It was a great way to chit chat with other gents and ladies in other states, convince each other to tour new cities, and become more acquainted before M&G's. Has twitter replaced this function?

...I could see how they could work here.
I am new so I never saw it in action.
Sometimes things move so fast in chat that people can get confused as to what is a response to what.

Twitter lags in chat sometimes so I don't think it is as good as it could be (plus I don't know how to do group chat in twitter. is that possible?)
(of course I am assuming there was a group chat option her on TER)

I used to enjoy chatting in the TER Messenger, I connected with many interesting people there.  Miss it...

And, like here, the French use the word "CHAT" as slang for pussy.  So, yes, I love CHAT.

there used to be a chat here!  That sounds like it would've been fun and a great way to meet others easily. Too bad I missed it.

an unmanageable time-suck.  Posting allows you to do things on your own time.  With chatting, you can find yourself stuck in a conversation that you can't comfortably exit when you want to for fear of offending someone.  If you leave abruptly, people start speculating all kinds of things about you, i.e., is he pissed off, did I offend him/her, what did I say wrong, etc.  Its a little too personal for me.  I bounce on and off the board all day long when I have a few minutes here and there.  Its much easier to manage when you're a working person.

The nice thing about chat was that everyone knew people were sneaking into chat at work. So disappearing wasn't out of the norm.  

I liked it because on my off days, I could have full conversations with people that I knew, or someone brand new, while allowing other people to pop in and contribute.

Personally, it was a great way to strum up business and plan fun little lunchtime hangouts with each other!

A busy for me as work days, but I'm doing fun stuff instead of work stuff.  I can't remember the last time I just sat around online for a whole day.  Its been at least ten years and before I became a hobbyist.

I never once felt like going into the chat area when it was offered.  

The boards allow me to post when I feel like a response whereas the chat feature would either require me to compete with others, have people wondering if I ignore them, or I may be completely bored.  

If I knew certain posters were on there, I might play on it. I can see guys easily being mad when a gal gives attention to others more than him.

I am not saying it wouldn't be fun but I don't have the time to sit there and do it. I can handle bouncing on certain topics here multiple times a day and it only takes me 2-5 mins each time. Speed reading and speed typing. There is no way I read 98% of the stuff on here.  

Chat would require me sitting there waiting for responses or waiting for something interesting. Too much time on what may be little entertainment.

As I recall, the chat room was pretty well dead, for many years.

Like Impposter pointed out, I recently asked where it went to. I just noticed the icon wasn't around and to sit back and think, it may have been gone for a few years now. lol.

Those late night chats were so cool...made many friends with west coast members late at night/early morning.  I miss that!
