TER may be Suffering an Integrity Lapse....

I believe TER is simultaneously on the verge of greatness and the brink of disaster.

Whoever runs the business (owners/employees) benefits by having more paying members and advertisers.  The members ("community" of SPs and hobbyists) benefit from the sharing of information.

But going too far mainstream will compromise the integrity of the community by allowing too many assholes and dirtbags access.  I am uneasy with the recent notices on the home page of best sites to advertise TER, etc.

It's their business, I can't ask them to stop. but I'd like them to consider continued vigilance in keeping this site useful and interesting.  Staff - please redouble efforts to maintain the highest standard of care possible regarding conduct and subject matter.

It seems as of late, there have been a rash of protocols broken by a number of ladies with regards to personal information.  Gents are being cold called out of the blue, among other things, that have rightfully angered a great deal of gents.

In my experiences, there has only been a very select few gents that have questioned me about my policies regarding their information before meeting.  Only one had given me specific instructions on what to do with his information and followed up on it to ensure that it had been done.  Most others never question it unless I volunteer policies or in conversation after having met.

As of late, I have had a rash of gents coming to me after a disturbing experience.  The thought of asking a lady about her policy had never really crossed their mind until their experiences.  Some have told me it is fruitless, because any lady can lie about it.

How many gents are concerned enough to ask?  In doing your homework, is the question raised via backchannel?  Despite a ladies assurances that your information is kept discreet, could it not be monitored via backchannel or placed in reviews along with everything else?

Just wondering....

Are you talking about calling someone after seeing them in the past to try and drum up another date or calling someone back too late after a message left?

Of course there are exceptions to the rule.  There are those that we make friends with and talk to frequently, but those boundaries are set prior.  And yes, there are call backs on inquiries that are perfectly reasonable.

I am talking about the scenario in which a lady just begins calling clients cold.  There has also been rumor of ladies that have just been emailing gents systematically from message boards, etc.

Here's a good one for you.  A gent provides a reference, you call his reference and she calls him to let it be known she's still available.  Happens seldom, but does happen

Ladies been doing it for a long time. VERY reprehensible, and shows that information once given is out of your control forever.

And its right in the OFC papers that a well known tampa lady made first contact with many of her clients based on their conduct on the boards.

Being divorced & single discretion on the part of the Provider is nearly a moot consideration. A friendly or even very seductive cold call can be a nice distraction & provocator. E' wise it's my kind of spam. It's obvious however where it could be disasterous to a Hobbyist with an SO or a position of hypocrytical authority IE:elected official. These issues of conduct should be understood between Provider and Hobbyist and adheared to. As in every other situation "Class Shows"

I don't bother with anyone that asks too much personal information. If they want to know where I work, I don't contact them or stop the converstion right then and there.

I am willing to provide references and if that is not good enough, there are plenty of other women that know a reference is better than a place of employmnet. It is too easy for someone to setup a fake business, print some cheap business cards and have a phone answering service that says " Good morning, Acme Widget Corp. Inc. Company, how may I help you?"

As far as getting calls out of the blue, it has happened twice with 2 different women, and I gave them both permission to do so. I was really quite tickled to think that they called me just to see how I was. An ulterior motive to their call? Probably, but it was still nice to know they thought of me.

There was a time I wasn't comfortable asking someone to give me a reference, but if it makes meeting a new woman easier, and puts her at ease, I'm all for it. After all, I am a very nice, sweet gentleman. :^)
