special clique?

I mean what does a new guy have to do to get anything posted.  I have a few reviews which I can post but was holding off to post to see how well a new guy is accepted around here.  It seems no matter what I post it never gets posted until I send an email asking why?  If the intent is to broaden and increase the acceptance and participation in this board and all it has to offer, then someone needs to address why a new guy who paid for his first membership cannot get anything posted?  I have had some questions as a new quote "hobbyist" which I hoped to get answered. I am also a member of Date Check and 2 others and can post those reviews there. But I had heard that TER was the top or one of the top 3 forums to use as a beginner at this. Any input greatly appreciated.

It seems that you are moderated at first, I guess to determine that your not a real dipshit. Then it takes a short while for the folks to read your posts and feel you out. Be patient. There are some terrific people here.

No... but it is best to start on the newbie page.  Read the info provided there, and the manuals set up there for your help.  You have learned to use an alias, that's a start. I assume that you posted under an alias here with this question because you don't want to be flamed?

of great information for a newbie.  And remember, you can search these discussion boards for topics as well, just make sure you click the "include text" box.

Third...be patient...it takes a while until your posts are trusted and you get unmoderated.  It was the same for all of us.

Fourth, as far as reviews are concerned, there has been a policy change and new reviewers are under a little more scrutiny now.  There was a rash of shill and fake reviews and a lot of then were by new members...and yes, I realize you are being held back by the transgressions of others, but it is better for the community as a whole.

Fifth, newbies are accepted very well around here, you are the new life of this organization.

Take some time, read the newbie board.  PM some of the other members here and become a part of the community here and in no time, you will be unmoderated, your reviews will post in a day or two and you will become the guy writing this message instead of the one receiving it.

Best of luck and happy hobbying!

You need to build a good posting history first.  Then you can contact the admin to be unmoderated.

I wouldn't be a member of any board that would have me as a member.   But I am one, and if they will let me post here, they will let anyone post.  Just keep contributing.

Don't worry. When you are new you are moderated, which means that when you post a message, the moderator of that particular board must review it before allowing it to be posted. This is just a trial period though to weed out flamers, trolls and spammers. Once you have been around for a while, you can contact the moderator of the board for your local area, and request that you be unmoderated. Once unmoderated, your messages will post immediately. Do be aware though, that any infractions of the rules can result in you being moderated again for a period of time. So it is wise to be aware of the rules :)

As to the reviews you have, by all means post them if they are less than 90 days old. TER policy is that reviews can only be submitted for experiences less than 3 monhts old :)

And welcome aboard. Don't worry, we don't bite. Much.

It looks very overwhelming and hard to get approved, but it's not. No matter how much money you have, how good you look, or where you live, you get approved if you meet the requirements.

All you need to do is to read the polices first. If you want to post on message boards read the message boards policies, if you want to post a review read the reviews' FAQ.

Before hitting the submit button, read your message once, or twice, and ask yourself:

1- Am I posting on the proper board?
2- Am I being courteous?
3- IS the subject of my post allowed on board?

etc,... once you made sure nothing is wrong with your post then submit it and you'll get through the moment the moderator reads your post.

The same thing is about reviews.
Look at the love you received here, and the number of responses,…. That should tell you something.

The links to the policies pages are posted on top of the board.

what do you expect?

When we all first joined, we were moderated as well. Things get posted after a while and after being trusted enough, then they removed the moderated status.

You have to earn the right to have your links go up automatically as we all did.

You also have to earn trust with your reviews and etc...

Thanks for all the input. Yes that is my name and as I said if I had something to post and thought that I needed to use an alias, You can bet that I would not post it.
I have read quite a bit, almost all in fact of the newbie board and I have posted on many other boards in the past.  In fact most of my posts have been followup type questions to posts by other members; such as the one asking if there were any "real squirters" in the DC area. I will work on the patience thing but when you are my age, a good day is one in which you learn or experience something new.  I want to leave an empty "bucket" when I check out at closing time with no regrets.

Welcome,
I'm pretty new, 5 reviews and been posting pretty often...  It was a bit over a month before I was unmoderated.  When moderated, it takes about a day for a post to be published.

There is already a lot of great info here...  spend some time reading up, it'll be time well spent.

That is the least of my worries, if I get flamed for asking a question fine. But I was always told that the only DUMB question is one never asked. AS for alias, I do not intend to post such comments that would warrant such a thing. I am afraid that I was raised down south by a strict father and if I have something to say to someone I will say it to their face; which in using this board or any other would mean a private message. Most misunderstandings are just that misunderstandings which can be worked out by two logical common sense people.  Thanks this ole fart is looking forward to all these new experiences and in some cases learning from those here who are younger but more experienced in the "hobby" as you call it.

With it's own handshake and special ceremony upon your completion of these five tasks.

1.  Bring us the head of Medusa
2.  Find a virgin at spring break
3.  Make an elephant pass threw the eye of a needle
4.  Find out who client number 10 is
5.  Bring the Chicago Cubs to the world series

Just kidding. Seriously check out the newbie board and the information there.  It was a huge help in learning the ropes, and you will get great help from the veterans there.  Good luck.

I'm not exactly what you would call a newbie but I am new to being actively involved with posting and writing reviews.  I have been moderated for about six weeks with seemingly no end in site. I have written  the moderator requesting to be given my freedom to no avail.  I certainly have not written anything offensive and think it is silly to use an alias to write ridiculous stuff just to stir people up.  Basic Psychology 101 would suggest that being moderated is not positive reinforcement so posting behavior will decrease after a period of time.

Anyone that would do a search of my posts could pretty easily figure out I am safe to unleash upon this board.  Maybe I'm still being moderated because my posts are so boring lol!

Then again, I never actually asked to be unmoderated. Some of the current mods have gotten a lot easier on unmoderating people. You'll have an easier time doing that on a local board, and once you're unmoderated it applies to all boards.

Rina, I think I can relate to what Slave4use is going thru..When I first started on this journey about a yr ago I wondered why things took so long to get posted..I never contacted anyone to question it; just thought thats how it is..

It seems that when I recorded review #20 it was open sesame..Reviews were posted in less tha 2 days & my posts on these boards were put up in very short order..

Is there a correlation with the # of reviews and the ease of gettign things posted on the discussion boards?

I don't know if it has anything to do with reviews.  I think we are all moderated at first and you may get unmoderated eventually but if you don't, contact the admin.

TER powers to be.  Also, once unmoderated, you must continue to stay within the posting guidelines established.
