I am so tired of red bumps on my pubes after shaving.
It looks terrible, and they take forever to lighten up [I am Caucasian with light-medium complexion].

I have the same issue!!! I have extrememly thick hair on my head which obviously will also appear in other areas. I started getting waxed at 18 and it was a God send, best thing I could have done. But then after about 5 years of waxing the bumps came back. So I went to see my dermatologist, she told me I have to realize that I have 2 really think hairs trying to come through 1 follicle (makes sense), and that waxing was a temporary solution but after a few years your skin becomes tough due to the stress of the waxing. I started laser hair removal and it's great, But once in a while I still get waxed.. Best of luck with it, I know for me it was such a burden, no one wants little red bumps in that area ever lol!

It burns a little bit but goes away after a second. It's very strong for the price.

If you leave in on for a few hours or overnight it'll absorb normal perspiration which irritates the area. Of course you're going to shower it off before seeing the provider. 12 hours in advance always seems sufficient time.

Are you shaving down? As in, the direction of the hair growth? Many people shave against the hair growth (up) and this causes hair bumps and ingrown hairs...shaving with the hair growth and down almost completely eliminated any hair bumps.  

No.. in this case you want to use Gold Bond Extra Strength Medicated powder (Green bottle).  YOWZA!

But since it helps skin in general, why not?  It's not like you'd have to pay for it.

I use an aloe based lotion after I shave, and it seems to do the trick for me.

abrasions from shaving should be a matter of concern -  there area also viral and other non-std skin infections that can be exacerbated by shaving, which are transmissible by contact to others....

Ask any of my hobbyist friends, no bumps ever!

You can get really, really close and not ever have bumps. Shaving the bikini line, yes, lower down as close as I can get it without actually shaving.

Put conditioner on said area and let it chill. Yes, I'm saying deep condition your face or pubes. It softens the whole situation. Also make sure to do most of the shaving with the grain long before you do side to side and that before up/opposite the grain. Care that your utensil is not the least bit dull. If you're using razors make it a new one every time. 90% of your problem gone if you take the time to shave right. Afterwards any of the afore mentioned lotion or potions should suffice for after care.
