It seems like the life of an average hobbyist and average provider is very depressing. I just wonder how many people in this community really are serious alcoholics.

Men, most likely feel the guilt of cheating on their wives or SO while the providers drink to allow them to sell their bodies to ugly fat hobbyists all in the name of the right amount of cash!

Sadness leads to alcoholism!

If I want to drink, I do, and then stop when I don't want it anymore. My biggest addictions are TER and cigarettes. Sadness as you say, also leads to MANY addictions including the hobby. Luckily, sex won't rot your liver lol. Might eventually cost you your wife, kids, house, and dog, but hopefully you will still have your health.

I don't know about the "average provider" but all of the women I know personally have none of these issues. Granted none of them have ever been abused or led a tough life before coming here, so that could also have something to do with it.

They are well grounded, work part time, and are actually very happy people who are not on any type of anti depressants. My BFF Kera, gets drunk off of just ONE drink, does not smoke, and certainly has never done drugs of any kind. For a 22 year old, she is one of the most mature and well rounded people I know in this business.

What would make you think there's a serious alcohol problem in this so-called hobby?  How do you know this to be true?  I know some girls who are drinkers and some who aren't.  Some used weed or pills, some don't.  And for those who do, how do you "know" it's because of having to "sell their bodies to ugly fat hobbyists?"  How many hobbyists do you even know?  It leads me to wonder if you are the ugly, fat, sad one.
If you really believe this, why do you hobby?  And why do you post?

I don't drink anymore man.. I gave up about 3 years ago. I remember last time I had a drink was when 2010 NFL Playoffs were on.

But if you keep posting, I might have start drinking again....I mean heavily...

but that's it.  I can't recall the last time I had a whole swallow.

Most of the women I know drink little to none, both during dates and during regular life. I myself would be hard pressed to have more than 2 glasses of wine during a dinner, and I drink MORE than my friends who are engaged in this lifestyle. Maybe one glass during an encounter.

To be fair, the women who I am referring to, like myself, have chosen to do this and have chosen to be responsible with it. The women who perhaps feel there is no other way (regardless of whether that's true or not) .... I can see them harboring the need for more alcohol.

I have been a lot less active in the hobby over the past few years, but I still get great pleasure and satisfaction out of meeting the women I do.  
If I felt guilty I wouldn't be meeting them.
I certainly hope none of the attractive women I have met have had to drink themselves into oblivion to spend time with me. (If I thought so, this would also prevent me from meeting them.)

I was hoping he was at the Heisman's awards...damn it!  He's so hot.....just saying....

If I have a drink, I make it something worth drinking. If I see a provider, the same applies. I used to own two pubs, and my only lingering habit from that is a love of Guinness.

Those are some pretty broad statements.  Are the percentages much different than in society as a whole.  Their are a lot of depressed and alcoholic people out there that you would never even suspect.  Everyone has their own demons and deals with them in their own ways.  People do not always pick healthy or positive coping methods.

I draw the line at losing the dog too.  

By the way before anyone is offended I am not married and have no kids.  Do have two dogs though and I could never see giving them up.

And, just to clarify, when I type ":P" that is internet speak for sticking my tongue out and means I am simply kidding in a friendly manner.  Don't take it so damn personal this time :P

I'm from Europe... we only consider people alcoholics if they can't handle their booze and write stupid posts like this.

Beer with lunch... Wine with dinner.  Pretty much everyday and profiteers in America call that alcoholism. Whatever.

Regarding the OP: Sadness doesn't cause alcoholism, if there really is such a disease. I contend that point is debatable. Alcohol IS a depressant, however, so people who are sad can exacerbate those feelings by drinking.
However, to simply state that people enjoying a stiff drink and a stiffy for fun are ready for rehab is simplistic.
Who doesn't enjoy the warmth of a light buzz and then some fun in bed....or the shower....or wherever?
The idea that anyone who drinks has an issue is prohibitionist crap brought to you by the social police in the country, who I think should stay the hell out of my business.
Their morality isn't mine, and they've stigmatized a single glass of wine so that it raises eyebrows in some communities. That's bullshit.

It's not people in the hobby who have issues, because they likely had them BEFORE coming here. Just do a search for statistics on alcoholism and depression, and see what the facts are. It's far from being a "hobby" problem, but more like a worldwide problem. In Europe the percentage is much lower, because people seem to be more relaxed. Americans are always on the go, and the "right now" generation, and that leads to a variety of problems and addictions.
