Why do women make me not care that I am stupid?

So, no shit, there I was, in the jungle....well, on the web at eros-dc.com.  I saw a young woman that appealed to me and called.  Glory be, she is available and for 90 minutes no less!  So we chat for a bit, I make the date and then comes the price.  No problem I think, there are plenty of people out there that think they are worth a 5 dollar cup of coffee, I know I am worth a 90 minute session, especially after the week I have had.

Now, I am a frugal person (not cheap).  I could have bought a bigger house, but opted for smaller one in a nice neighborhood as I would rather max my 401K, IRA, then pay a mortage.  I would spend $600 dollars taking a few friends out on the town for helping me move than pay $1200+ for movers as it is more fun AND less expensive.  Besides, they'll love me for it.  Hell, my first degree was in fine arts (sculpture) so I make my own funiture because I can get exactly what I want, at the quality level I want, for a lot less if I make it myself.  Naturally, the frugal portion of my intellect takes over as soon as I hang up the phone.  "Am I really getting value for my money?"

So now the Engineer/Computer Science/Network Security Professional portion of my intellect takes over a starts collecting nuggets for a cost analysis:

* 5 hours of my time for 90 minutes of hers.
* The car could use 4 new tires.
* I could buy that 19" flat screen monitor that just came into my price point.
* 4 days at a Bed an Breakfast in upstate New York next month when the leaves are turning.

Then comes the Army Officer training and the yearly reservist refresher files....remember all those GI films?  Herpes is forever.  AIDs will kill you.

Should I really be doing this.  Do the benefits outway the risks?  I would make a car payment on a new Volvo for this!  This is really stupid if you think about it.

I got back 2 hours ago and now all I am thinking is, "I should have taken some extra cash for a tip."

but I believe Carl Jung got it right when he said,
""The brain is viewed as an appendage of the genital glands."

Big Jim and the twins don't care much for TV's,tires, and breakfast....but 90 minutes with the honey on EROS...

OVERULED!

Cheers!

How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning? If you have a good job and there are no signs of it ending, then this should have been a no-brainer.

19" monitor? A bed and breakfast? The tires make sense - no one wants to get a blowout and die. Maybe die while getting blown...

The equation is far far more complex. You know it already too.

The material aspects of life are only one dimension.

On your death bed- are you more likely to remember the 19" flat screen you bought 30 years before, or that one occasion when that particularly angelic looking thing on her knees smiled up at you with a peculiar curve in her lips that is seared into your memory for some reason you cannot figure out?

Just a thought.

Very well written, excellent analysis, great tongue in cheek self deprecation.  My hat is off to you.  Thanks for making the day just a little better.

Is it any more stupid than traditional cruising, dating, courtship, marriage, marriage counseling, seperation then divorce followed by giving her half your shit??.

Whether it's the Hobby or a courtship sanctioned by Dr.Laura it's fiscally "stupid" for the male.
At least it's not commonly suicidal for us as in the case of some insects and many spiders.

By definition, average...not stupid, if it's universal.

At least in a dating relationship, however you define it (there are other options than the hobby or following Dr. Laura's rules...it isn't either/ or), you have the CHANCE of creating something lasting, and, even if it isn't lasting, it many times isn't the "fleecing" that your scenario lays out.

There are many scenarios that make the hobby a viable temporary option for a single guy, which is the group you seem to be referring to.  That is why I am here.  However, all relationships do not have to be "fiscally stupid for the male".  Pre-nup, anyone?  Plus, it is a give and take.  Many women could say and have said that all relationships are emotionally stupid for the female, but there are many men on here that wouldn't agree with that viewpoint, and there are many women that either don't buy it or fight against any temptation to take that tack and try to believe in the concept of a man being faithful or not leaving the marraige because he meets a younger, more desirable mate when the woman has held up her share of the bargain (and don't kid yourselves that this doesn't happen).

The key to this lies in finding the right person, and you often have to look through a lot of wrong people to find the right one.  However, it is impossible to do that when you are cynical.

There is this whole civilian date thing that gets in the way!  Yes, CynicalMan, I know, she gets a free vacation and I will get screwed (hopefully, wink wink nudge nudge) but the whole premise of this thread is "women=stupid me".  I have been working on a web site for the better part of a year under the expectation that when I get tired or independant contracting I would open a custom furniture shop, but other things have gotten in the way.  You know, divorce, moving, work, this overpowering desire to get my ass into better shape. (some of you ladies are really fit!)  I'll let you know if I ever get it done, but for the moment, I would not hold my breath.  Especially if I get deployed during the next troop rotation.
