STD's and precautions

This topic has been discussed a little bit in the past but as one who will soon have his first experience with a provider (it makes me feel like the Wal-Mart commercial where the lady says "I love it here, it's just like being a virgin again!!!" or something like that) anyway, I'd like to hear some advice and opinions on uncovered DATY, BBBJ, uncovered manual stimulation of the provider, how significant are the risks, how do you mimimize them? Hope this isn't a dumb question, but I'm more at home in a 757 where the cockpit responds to the slightest touch AND is safe too.
Thanks, Hope the new year brings you all a "Wal-Mart" like experience.  -- if you haven't seen the commercial, forget it.

well any exchange of body fluids is a risk I would not worry so much about kissing. There are precautions you can take while DATY such as glioxide before and after and perhaps some listerine as well. This doesn't eliminate your chances but it can greatly reduce them...also don't forget about the saran wrap...it actually feels pretty damn good that way you probably won't get anything from a bbbj but if a provider who has as many partners as most providers have gives you one I would be extra careful with her and NOT DATY as she is on the receiving end of alot of stuff. Because of the way a penis operates and the method of a women perfomring oral sex on a man she is ingestion body fluid period...gums often bleed and cheeks and tongues can be bitten easily and leave an open sore in her mouth. I have several friends who have contracted herpes through oral to genital contact. I think if they had been educated on what herpes looks like and how it is transmitted this wouldn't have happen because they would have been aware that their partner had lesions...all of them admitted that they had seen a sore or blister but had shrugged it off and didn't think anything about it. Be careful and find a provider that doesn't offer bbbj's as a standard practice. If they do they don't care about their health and are uneducated about STD's and their transmission. Also gents the lifestyles ulta sensitive condoms are great for bj's and they even taste good as far as condoms go...a little lube in the tip really helps but change it before you go all the way as the lube can cause it to slip off during intercourse.

Anyone have some sterile gloves along with that?  I think any woman who gives a man a bj (with or without) a condom puts her friend at risk if she's stupid enought to do so while she's got a sore in her mouth.

I really didn't see much validity in the recent poll in the first place.  There definately is a risk, but how much risk is still to be determined.  There have been other studies that have said the risks were very minimal provided there's good oral hygene, you and your partner get tested often and you check your partner visually.

I also don't tend to see the gentleman that I'd consider high risk in the first place.  I'd like to see more studies after this one.

I used to use mouthwash after, but I read a study that you're killing a better defense already existant in your mouth (keep yourself healthy).  The only actual case I'd seen to date regarding a lady getting HIV orally, they noted that she had VERY bad oral hygene and the man had lesions on his penis.  I guess these studies will keep appearing and we'll eventually see a trend.

I'm NOT condoning BBBJ or DATY without protection, I'm just questioning the study (the participants).

I wish we had a clear answer to all of this.

The topic has been discussed over and over, but for a recent discussion, try the Los Angeles section 1/4/02 thread about "giving the wife STD" , apparently you can give and receive chlamydia (among other STD's) by DATY or BBBJ... I'm hoping uncovered manual is still safe, but who knows!

Check out my post.  All I can say is BE CAREFUL!  And even if you are careful, you're at risk.  Good luck
