Statistically speaking

Honey, I think it is highly unlikely. I found myself mentally going through the clients I've seen in D.C. and NYC so I agree a slight amount of paranoia is natural. But I think the media have enough fodder at this point. -e

Hey mods,
Have you seen a dramatic increase in visitors to TER since the Spitzer thing?
And if you have, is that a good thing?
An increase in public knowledge of the Hobby can't be good, since discretion and silence are essential elements, but, on the other hand, maybe there are some good elements as well.
What do you guys think?

I suspect whatever increase would resemble a typical Gaussian curve. Folks from all walks of life, with varying perspectives, catching a glimpse of our particular standard deviation ... -e

I had to Google "Gaussian" (Bell) curve. Shows how much of my statistics classes stuck.

All of the main boards have been named and/or shown in various articles and tv.

Subsequently mine and several girlfriends website hits have quadrupled since day 1.  Free publicity yes, ov-erexposure YES!

Many of us have been contacted by major news organizations for fishing expeditions.  One stupid girl gave a quote thus EROS NY VIP showing up on air over and over and over.

3 high end ladies websites that I know of have been shown on GMA and the Today show and subsequently pulled by the owners.

Several unrelationed providers have been named along with links to their websites and quotes from their reviews in an article.

IT'S A WITCHUNT and far from over!  The media smells a good story and will milk it for all it's worth.

Yes it is good to have more traffic BUT do I want to wake up tommorrow and see my EROS ad with my face displayed on GMA and Diane Sawer talking about me. NO NO a thousand times no.  Way too public and out in the open!  WHo knows who will be next.

Ladies now would be a very good time to screen like you never have before.  Can you imagine if media got past someone's screening and hit someone up on camera?

I guess you now can relate to Britney or Angelina, with constant media frenzy.

Hopefully, this will all die down as soon as someone else does something stupid and the media goes to hunt the next witch.

I didn't mean to trivialize it. I guess I'm in a unique position in that all my friends and family know what I do, so I tend to overlook the outing aspect of it all.

This isn't the first time something like this has been in the national spotlight, and it certainly won't be the last. Another news story will come up in the next couple of days and they'll follow that scent.

Just relax. It will be fine. -e

seeing my picture on GMA while she is drinking her morning coffee?

I just began showing my face again about 3 weeks ago and seeing that I have a NY VIP ad I have a good chance of being one of the unlucky ones that's all!

this same thing happened after charlie sheen and hugh grant

it will go for a few weeks, then die out

until then, keep low profiles

If I would've known how beautiful you are I would've been all over you.

I will definitely contact you on my next trip to vegas.

There are major advantages to letting it all hang out so to speak.

In a good way, not bad at all.

Usually, I have about 15 thousand visitors a day on my site and it did double in numbers.

I got more inquiries from new clients this week who "found" me on the web.

My regulars didn't get scared, they came to visit me as usual, but we did talk about like everyone else.

And, I saw some high profile guys I did meet in the past this week, because they do not want to run around and risk seeing agencies or Eros advertised girls. They wanted a "sure & safe" situation.

I am like back home, "comfort food" for lots of guys. In moments of crisis, they always come back to feel safe (and satisfied - of course).

Spitzer is not the first high profile guy to be caught with his pants down...and he will not be the last.

This whole thing will die out in few weeks and I think enough of it. I am tired of watching and reading the news, so I change channels when it comes up.

I think watching every single news report just feed paranoia inside us and that is not what we should be feeling, right?

I moved on, I guess everyone else should too.

I'm in LA and it hasn't affected me much.

This story hasnt done anything but sensationalize the business-

Thank you Elliot !

There are advantages and disadvantages to this..

Like most, I have seen an increase in the amount of visitors to my site quadruple, as well the amount of weirdos calling and emailing me in the most explicit ways.

I have had an increase in new clients, who are paranoid but want to stick with an independent and have stated that they choose me because they felt safe with me, and my/their privacy.

A show has contacted me to comment about a new show that is coming out about call girls..now, do I want that kind of attention? NO!

In the end, I will still screen vigorously, there will be no curtail from that. I will still provide the same level of services. As far as being outed, I don't worry about that as I have a great family who loves me, though I would not share this with them until I feel comfortable. I feel confident in knowing that I would be able to handle it.

The one good thing is that the public has a short attention span. The only question is how many people will be hurt in this news cycle?

The questions I would have for any of the media who should read this, is how far have you gone for a story? How many lies have you told? Or half truths? How often have you pushed the envelope to get that juicy story? How many times have you told yourself you did it for the greater good, only to know deep down it was all about your career?

Say what you will about providers and clients, but I will take any lady I have met in this over any politician or reporter.

Interesting read! I have to say that we had an IRS bust in Denver of local agency and then the press was all over the local board - in this case TOB in Denver! The increase in visitors was to get stories and even one reporter posted and wanted to make sure the ladies of the agency were treated right.

What was interesting is that there were judges, business leaders and sports figures that visited the agency. What reporter really wanted was names- forget about how people are treated - we want to know who was there! Panic spread through Denver and the press just wanted names. The IRS was after the agency - so many were safe - but lots of pressure. I thought it interesting that one newspaper filed an appeal to have the names released - which was denied.

The press is all about revealing who's who! Spitzer was stupid - you always got to watch your back - again the IRS was after the agency and he didn't conduct himself properly which led to other investigations.

This would not of come to light but ... read the NY board and a whole other story develops!
