Had the flu this past week (including fever, coughing, wheezing) for three days.  How long should one wait after recovery?  3 days okay, a full week?

Advice from real medics most welcome.  Please advise if you are.  Those pretending to be one online will be taken at the usual $0.02 rate.

Would it make any difference to avoid DFK?  Can flu be transfered by CIM/swallow?

The news has been saying you are contagious for 7 days after symptoms start.

The news also had doctors that said the flu virus does not survive humidity and sunshine.  I thought that was an interesting tidbit.  So crank up the humidity and let the sunshine in.  

but my SO is!!  LOL!  I've been down sick since our New Years Eve frollic...  a nasty cold as far as I can see...   She was sick a week prior, but then I'm immune suppressed so that skews everything.  Once I'm free of this, I'll refrain for at least a week.  
You bring up an interesting point...  these cold / fly virus infections seem to be spread directly or indirectly from the mouth & nose.  It would be interesting to know if other fluids are likewise carriers.
If you recovered in 3 days, you got off easy.

Q: Can one transmit the flu through blood or semen?

My boyfriend has the flu and I'm trying hard not to get it from him. If we don't exchange saliva, is it possible for me to get the flu from him? What if I have contact with other bodily fluids, such as his semen / tears / blood. Do those carry the flu virus?

A: The flu virus infects the respiratory track and is transmitted between different people through respiratory particles. Basically the way it works is someone with the flu coughs and small invisible particles of respiratory secretions and saliva that contain the virus are spread. Often times these particles hang out in the air for some time before a susceptible person breaths them in. The best way to prevent the spread of flu from one person to anther is by avoiding that person all together. If that is not possible, then the person infected should where a mask to help prevent the release of those respiratory particles. Of course you should also not exchange saliva with him because this type of contact can also spread the flu. Although semen, blood, and tears do not tend to carry the flu virus, if you are close enough to him to be in contact with those fluids, then you are close enough to breath in the infected respiratory particles.
