Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend
by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth
records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such
value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't
always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial
policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge).
His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well
intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.
It declined even further when schools were required
to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Finally, Common sense lost the will to live as the
Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman
failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents,
Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and
Ima Whiner.
Not many attended his funeral because so few
realized he was gone. If you still know him pass this on, if not join the majority and do nothing.

I certainly don't mourn the loss of a huge "ten commandments" installed in an Alabama state court house, if that is what it is being cryptically referred to in the initial post. Funny, I always believed in the separation of church and state, and would mourn its loss.
However, this opinion isn't "common sense", it's just my "2sense".
I guess I wonder what the point of this post is. After all, the guy who lied about the blow job also said Saddam Hussein had WMDs.
The problem with you professional Bush-haters is that you can't have an intelligent conversation about the policy. There was, prior to the war, a world-wide consensus that Iraq had WMDs. Anybody who denies it is a fool and/or a liar, because Iraq used gas in Iran more than twenty years ago, and on the Kurds in the last decade. The consensus only broke down when we had an Administration who was willing to actually do something about it (something more than lofting a few cruise missiles coincident with scandals breaking at home). If there was an intelligence failure (and there may have been), it's of long duration and needs to be fixed. Unfortunately, you Bushhaters would rather score political points rather than fix America's intelligence apparatus, which you probably don't like very much, either.
If, on the other hand, Saddam Hussein really destroyed his weapons and kept it a secret and/or refused to verify it for whatever reason, then that's not a failure to be visited upon the Bush Admninistration or, for that matter, the Clinton Administration. And the war was still justified.
It's really too bad that you far Lefties would rather vilify George Bush than celebrate the ouster of a tyrant and thug, and the liberation of 25 million souls.
I would have a lot more respect for the people supporting the Ten Commandments monument in the Alabama Courthouse if they hadn't fucked up the Commandments. Last time I looked in my Bible, the First Commandment was:
I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods before me.
And:
You shall not kill.
Was not even a Commandment. The Seventh Commandment is:
You shall not murder.
Which means something all together different.
Don't try to imply that Roy Moore is any kind of strong biblical scholar. You make yourself seem much less intelligent. I mean, he couldn't even get the damn Commandments right.
As for the rest, teach teenagers about birth control, and they will not get pregnant (seems obvious to me), and there is not ONE study that suggests that abstinence only sex ed reduces teenage pregnancy. Reduce the number of teen pregnancies, and the number of teen abortions will go down. Common sense. If a woman does not have access to safe and confidential abortion, she is more likely to seek out an alternative method, whether an illegal (and dangerous) abortion or killing her child after it is born. No woman should have to face that decision, ever. Common sense.
Your attempt at comedy would have worked much better if you had avoided things which are controversial, and stuck to the sublimely ridiculous (such as the McDonald’s coffee lady).

all the waxing nostalgic about "the good old days" and "the greatest generation" will never bring them back...especially if, as Mr. Wells suggested, they potentially never existed as it was.
I also wholeheartedly agree with 2sense, as usual. The Ten Commandments SHOULD be contraband in a court of law, as, no matter how correct many of those sentiments are, they represent a particular point of view that may not be in line with THE LAW. For example, "Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Wife"...oooo, how many guys in TER would have been struck by lightning for that one, or for committing adultry, or giving false measure, or bearing false witness, etc., etc.
All I can say here is how do you intend on stopping progress? As with everything in life, progress has an ugly side as well, and it is a lot easier to blame a big vast amorphous foe than to accept the ugliness of human nature as it encounters more freedom. Also, there may be good reasons for some of these things, as Light makes clear.
As for the criminals being treated better than their victims, my father worked for the police department, and this is not the norm, in spite of what the media (the big, bad media) might have you think...and the last time I checked, many people in prison were being homosexually raped or physically assaulted...in case anyone thinks prison is only three squares and TV and the weightroom.
Oh...and life still isn't fair...even for "good people". But cheer up...there's life in the next, right?
