Hers for taking charge and yours for hanging back and letting the cop deal with her outrage.

It's like when facing a group of thugs and avoiding the group's alpha and talking things out with one of the toadies. First it shifts the dynamics, second it causes confusion, and third it gets them focusing on each other as much as on you.

You might have genuinely been intimidated, but you played it out very well. I hope you smiled at the cop to let him know her actions were her own and that you would not take his side in any disagreement.

Very uplifting story.

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely". We as citizens need remind the police occasionally that they are NOT omnipotent despite that they are dressed and equipped like a 'Special Forces' military soldier. Every one of our first Ten Amendments is there for the citizen to exercise; but if we don't they'll simply atrophy and be lost.  

  BULLY!!! for the courageous and informed lady you were with for reminding him he was a "peace" officer and not simply a 'thug' from an occupying army.
