Maybe nothing, but it makes you wonder...

This may be just free-floating paranoia, but sometimes odd stuff happens after a session that makes you wonder:

Just recently, I had a session with a beautiful provider that was visiting my home town.  She's blonde, 20 years old, drop-dead gorgeous.  I like her so much that I pay for her room.   After the session, I walk down a flight of stairs, and I'm about hit the exit when I hear someone behind me RUNNING down the stairs. I don't like anyone coming up behind me.  I turn around & wait.  It's a young black guy and I'm waiting for him at the foot of the stairs.  He's not in a hurry anymore.  He smiles and then walks past me, down the next flight, only now he's walking.  

Perhaps just a coincidence, but I think it may have been the provider's pimp/boyfriend.  Maybe curiosity got the best of him.  Or maybe he thought about rolling a john & lost his nerve.  It's just one of those odd events--given the time & place, it makes you wonder.  --z

...the street and a white person is coming towards another white person, most times they won't acknowledge him or even make eye contact.  When a black person is walking towards a white person, he'll usually nod or say "hello" to reassure the white guy that he won't mug him because of the stereotype most white people have about black men.

In this case, no one was 'walking down a street'.  All self-righteous assholes: Go back & read my original post on this thread.  Let's review:

1. I leave a provider's room, and go down a flight of stairs.  

2.  I HEAR someone running down the stairs behind me. Note that verb 'HEAR' assholes, & go back & read it in my original post.  When I turned around and waited at the foot of the stairs, I had no idea what race the person was behind me.  I would've taken the same action if it had been an 80 year old white grandma.   And if it had been a 20 year old white guy instead of a 20 year old black guy running down the stairs, I would have the same suspicions.

As I stated in my original post and later in this thread, it could've been nothing.   But this really isn't about race, is it?  It's about morally superior boy scouts who want to earn a merit badge.  --z

YOU then theorized, after seeing his race, that you thought he was either a pimp or a thief. Out of the millions of reasons he could have been in a hotel, the only 2 you give are negative. I guess I'm just a self-righteous asshole because when I see a black guy running, I only see a black guy who is running ... not a criminal.

the need to point out the guy's race. What difference does it make what color he is when he is running after you? Had you not ASSumed being black had anything to do with it, you would not have A. said he was black, and B. posted the freaking thread to begin with! Saying after the fact that, "It could have been nothing," does not make up for the ASSumption you proposed. Now, go buy my fat ass an ice cream cone!

as they very often have TV cameras in them.

The exit doors at the base of the stairs leading out also have silent alarm contacts to alert staff that someone is using them.

It is better to act like anyone else in the hotel and use the elevator.

I'm not sure what I would have done had I heard someone running after me.  I think my instinct would have been to run also, and hopefully faster than the person behind me.

That could be why he smiled (laughed) at you and he was running down the stairs. The surefire way to attract undue attention is doing something that 9 out of 10 guests do NOT do. There is no harm in taking elevators once in a while. Healthy or not, it is out of the ordinary and likely to create the opposite intended effect.

10 seconds in an elevator and you are out the building vs.  a couple of minutes of stairs with security's ever watchful eye.

I think the OP was ABOLSUTELY right & I'd have turned to face him, back toward a wall & waited for him to pass.  I've been in security & frankly someone running up behind you (you don't know what color he is) is often the last warning that something is wrong.  (The next move could be a brick to your head or a knife in your kidney.)  The fact he was black is immaterial.  I wouldn't pack heat to a meeting but the first level of of defense is being conscious.  I believe the Marines first color coded it & further refined by the late Col Jeff Cooper who should need no introduction.

I often take the stairs.  Hotels have cameras everywhere including elevators & the lobby.  Yes, the emergency exit in the stair well is often alarmed, but frequently there's a "key card" entrance right next to it, perhaps through a door to the ground floor corridor.  Well, you can go out of it!  Your not ENTERING!  The advantage in my view is makes your comings & goings more obsecure & more difficult for others to casually observe.  Again, I often use the stairs to exit.   In fact I try to park nearer the wing exit.  With luck I exit near my car.  If I keep my sense of direction, I might have to change wings.  If so I take the elevator down a floor & cross over...  walking directly toward the stair.  I've walked by housekeeping & staff who didn't give me a second look because I wasn't stopping.    

BTW, I hope you didn't register for a room & then leave her in posession of it.  Anything which goes on in that room after you leave links back to you.  Better to reimburse her in cash.

A-Fun:  You make a valid general point, but not all circumstances are the same.  Some situations are inherently more risky than others.  When you engage in illegal activity, and you're carrying a large sum of money, your risk of someone 'watching you' or messing with you goes up exponentially.  But thanks for carefully reading my post & quoting it back to me--at least you're being constructive.

I live in freaking New Orleans where every 3 in 5 people are black...imagine my surprise to get robbed by....wait for it...a fkin white dude who was only 19! This must be the most ridiculous thread ever on a review site. I don't know how you guys figured out he was a racist bigot  from what he posted. You have to be mind readers I guess. Question: has anyone here ever mentioned to someone of the same race, in normal conversation, what race a person you were speaking about was? People of all races do it all the time. I happen to realize that not all white people like black people and vice versa. But just because he said he didn't  know if the guy was a pimp or a mugger doesn't constitute racism or bigotry except for those who want to see what they want to see. Just because you think what he said was racist doesn't mean it was. A few weeks back a woman in the city where I live was shot in the street for telling a speeding driver to slow down. The woman was white t the fktard that shot her was a black 17 year old kid. Now to me THAT was racist! But that's just me. Nobody has even mentioned hate crime. In closing I would like to say that when you jump all over someone for saying things you think stupid or racist or bigoted be careful because it just might expose your own prejudice. Or racism. Or bigotry. Opinions are like a-holes. Everybody has one and most of them stink. How tolerant is your own intolerance.
