I certainly didn't mean to offend you, hon!  If you don't charge the girls for that, wonderful!  I still don't like anything that slows down my getting to the important info, but I do appreciate your efforts.

I have, however, seen quite a few girls (and heard of many more) that fell for that "I can do this magical opening page in Flash that will really drag in the visitors to your site!" line from the web site designer, only to find that it costs 3 or 4 times as much to develop and maintain the site.

I can't speak for others, but I can say that I get my best information verbally, which includes the written word, rather than visually from graphics.  I want to see what the lady says about herself in her self-description/bio/etc., rather than guessing at her personality from what backgrounder graphics she uses.  Mixing that written info with her pictures, and most ecpecially our exchanges of email and/or phone conversations, I can figure out whether we're likely to hit it off.

All that said, it is after all the lady's site, and she should put her stamp on it.  All I ask is that web designers keep in mind some cardinal rules:

1) What would Joe Dialup do?  That stuff that looks great running instantaniously on the machine you're using for development can really suck on an old 486 laptop with insufficient memory and a 56K modem connection.

2) Follow the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid!)

3) Never use graphics where text would do.  Fancy fonts are nice, but not where it requires most or all text on a page to be embedded in graphics just to use the font.

4) Remember the purpose of the site.  Most provider sites are not the kind that people stumble on - they're looked up in search engines and sites like this board.  So the site doesn't need a front page that drags in people that stumble on it, it needs a front page that identifies the type of site (to let the cyber-nanny stuff do its job) and can be quickly be perused and passed to get to the meat of the site.

want to look at little java script windows that we need to scroll back and forth, up and down, just to read a little about the woman we are trying to find out about.

A gallery that is placed into a tiny java window so we have to scroll???????

I contacted one webdesigner that said I sell it like that because it's cool.

Well IMO it SUCKS!!!!

Oh, I could always set me screen resolution so it fits on the screen and break out the magnifying glass so I can read it, or see the entire image without scrolling.

Come on now just because your web dude or dudette tells you it's cool, take a look at it yourself. Ask yourself if it is something that is easy to navigate, see, read, minimal scrolling, does it work with all browsers?

I'm seeing more and more of this phenomona, put a 3x4 window in the middle of the browser window, and cram everything we possibly can into it. STUPID!!!

Just venting. Never mind.

try to think about what it was like a few short years ago when you had to find a provider from the newspaper and there was a 50% chance you'd get ripped off!

TER rocks.  Provider websites rock, even with their little java script windows.

Life is good.

Go get laid - you'll feel much better, and this won't matter.

Get some perspective!

Just venting.  Never mind.

For those that don't have HSA (which I do via TW) the load time can be forever. I give a site 15 sec. to load if not I deep six it.  The secret here for providers is the old KISS theory.  Keep It Simple Stupid

That right. If the page does not loan in 15 seconds it's on to bthe next page.

ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even though the new design I have now is in the 3x5 box in the middle of the screen, lol :) Ahavni

That's the type of design I'm talking about. Terrible design IMO and a site that I won't return to.

No matter how beautiful I think you are. No matter how much I desire you. 8^)

Wow Ahvani,

Your website looks fabulous!!! I love the list you have of reasons why you don't get back in touch with people.  THAT IS SO TRUE. I should do something similar on my site. Usually I just delete irritating messages, however I like your idea of going one step further and telling them why...Good thinking girl. Wonderful site.

Sincerely,
Laura

She charges WAAAY too much then rips girls off with outrageous bandwidth charges AND she owns the copyright which is BS!  The provider should own the copyright!

Buyer Beware!

It sucks, it's hard to see the pics. and too much scrolling.
Those insipid little windows are insane.

Yeah I think your right about that.I made my new web site easy to read and use. Also we made sure it will come up on any type of computer you are useing.Too many  things on a web site may look cool but it's harder for the user to get around.
