Something they never told me in Escort training...or ramblings.

Nah, no special training here.  But I am astounded by my travels to my outcall apts.  Living in NYC, its always a hellish/interesting experience riding the subways.

It is most certainly compounded by the fact that as I leave my apt to go to these apts, I am praying I get there on time, hoping the train arrives on time, hoping I have enough condoms, checking to see if I have my metro card.  Five minutes of walking, Im swooshing my card.  Tonight was most interesting.  Although very typical.

I had a 10:30pm apt, way downtown. I live way uptown. Ok, I calculate, to be on time or five min early (better early than late), I figured Ill leave my apt at 9:20pm. Given walk time, waiting for the subway to come, which can take anywhere from 5-15 min (%$#!@ subway!!) transfer to another train time, and walk a few blocks to said apt time.  Well, subway was good this time. It arrives as soon as I get to the platform.  Its being proficient for once.  I transfer and again, the train arrives immediately.  Im shocked. The subway gods are being nice.

As I leave the station, I check the time.  Its 10pm!! Holy shit. Ok. Five minutes later Im at the apt. I stand there.  I cant buzz the bell yet!  Shit.  So many times this has happened to me.  My fear of being late has led me to being insanely early.  Hence as with so many other apts, I begin walking around the block to kill time.  Once, twice around the block.  Ahhh, finally its 10:20pm!  I gave in and rang the buzzer. He didnt seem to care.

I must spend half my life in the subway stations though going to appointments.  The smell, the putrid walls and tracks that look like a something out of a horror movie (toxic sludge...yumm I love to look at it), the musicians blaring bad music, these things are becoming like home to me.  Coming home from this apt, the subway was bad again. I waited 20 minutes for the fucking train to come.  I think, Ive got to start bringing a book with me, but then think, my poor shoulder wouldnt like it. Its already got to carry a wallet, makeup, condoms, lube, Ipod, water, subway map, planner, and more condoms! So I stand there, like countless other times, peering into the sludge to see if I see anything move.  Tonight I saw a tiny mouse and a rat!!  Oh my! A rarity. I really wished I lived somewhere where I drived, but then life as I know it wouldnt be so interesting.  Does anyone else have this problem??

Great NYC story.  As a New Yorker now living elsewhere, I can so immediately identify with a story like this. New York -- gotta love it!

As a fellow New Yorker...

Around the midnight hour, NYC subways get zombiefied...BOO!
lol...
Street traffic flows very smoothly so take a cab next time.
Much safer.

I'm generally taking the subway during rush hours when the NY minute is in full force and there is generally no time for focusing on "what lies beneath"...although sometimes my mind wanders to a different "beneath"...
Case in point:

Just the other day while I was taking the #5 downtown Lexington Avenue express train...as it zipped by 42nd street.

It never ceases to amaze me when on the NYC subway...
Throngs of people....
everyone silently staring straight ahead pretending no one else is around while they're standing "cheek to cheek" with everyone.

VonRyan generally picks out a hottie and then my mind wanders
about the horny,lusty possibilities....

and then she...

she abruptly gets off at 34th street...

all aboard!
next fantasy...

Cheers!...Btw, wheres your web site info?...

I used to think the NY public transportation (NY metro ?) was run by idiots - till, I moved to Boston ...

They [MBTA] are a special kind of stupid.

plus four in Europe. That's because I'm a railroad buff.

One time I was in Brooklyn or Queens when these three really rough looking guys got on. They had a big German shepherd on a leash. One of them was also carrying a metal gasoline can. No idea if it was empty or full. I just sat there and didn't say a word LOL

I got robbed in the Philadelphia subway back in 1976. In Mexico City, the pickpockets will cut your clothing to get you wallet out, and you won't even know it's happening.

I was on the Boston T one time when this kid had a boombox on full blast in an underground station. It was deafening, but no one told him to turn it off.

Most of my subway riding, however, has been in Washington DC, which has a clean, relatively crime free system.

If you're going to sample the street action in Washington, say on L or M Street, taking Metro is a good idea. The DC LE will impound a john's car if they catch him.

die a slow, agonizing, death sitting in your car on one of these magnificent roadways while gangrene sets in.  Every place has its drawbacks.  I live in Southern California and have no intention of moving.  However, if I had to leave Southern California, NYC would be my second choice.

Your thread reminded me both of the movie "The Warriors" and of a couple of songs from the CD "Tempermental", by Everything But The Girl.  Very visual.

As someone else mentioned here, Southern Cali can be an experience itself, given the paucity of public transit and the freeways that are like "Metropolis" on fast forward.  A car is secure, but insulated.  The dirt and grime of the subway can be an inspiration that you wouldn't get in the boxed in world of freeway travel, which is basically the conclusion you reached.

The revelation here is your narrative.  To hell with the book, Carissa...bring a notepad, or a mini-recorder.  Write these things down.  Express...live...color...feel.  Oh, and please visit So Cal in the not too distant future.

I like the bit about the mouse.

I lived in CA most of my life and the funnest time of my life was when I moved to NY (at age 28).  Sure, in CA there are beautiful girls, but you're always in a fuckin car, so you gotta meet em at work or at the clubs/bars/gym.  And the chance of a hottie in my work was slim (okay, a few times) and the bar scene wears you down (it was fun though).

In NY, unless I was in a hurry, I relished going on the subway ... first you find the hottie (there are plenty around) and just by chance you find your way in the same car.  Nice view - and there are usually plenty others around too.  The only problem I had was covering my hard on (if I was so motivated) - YOU DON'T WANT TO BUMP INTO ANOTHER GUY WITH A HARD ON (at least, I don't), or even a woman (she'll, rightly, think I'm a pervert).

Anyways, I certainly know the NY subway can be a pain in the ass, but the good outweighs the bad IMHO.

With apologies to fucyoupayme from the Politics board.

Kudos Carissa.I love that story.. Ill be in the big city next week and for the holiday !!!

Your story brought me back to NYC.. I love the hustle and bustle of a REAL city !!!!!!!!!!!! Although, I don't think I would like taking your outcall Appointments !!  LOL....

Don't forget about the rainy days/nights that your stockings or suit gets splashed with mud splatters... !!

I did some outcalls when I was there last year.. and that is just insanity at its finest...

Hi Carissa;

You need to come to Sarasota, Fla.
Beautiful beaches, sunny days, (when hurricanes aren't blowing), warm water, no subways, and very appreciative gentlemen.

I know of one who would love to see you come visit here.

Just my opinion...

Your description becomes visual in the reading, no attention to detail overlooked - very interesting viewpoint. Depending upon public transportation does make an already busy life more hectic which ever city you reside in. SoCal's traffic is no better, it can take 3 hrs to travel 45 miles and that isn't during rush hour. Hurry up and wait is becoming a way of life it seems, BTW I always have a book with me, I've found the added weight to be well worth the inconvience. As well as you write maybe you should carry a recorder or notepad as others have mentioned, I would definitely read your work.

Good for you for taking the subway.  Keep at it.  It doesn't pollute or use as much energy as private vehicles.

Get a good book to read.  Or, there's a neat magazine called One Story which has just that -- one story, in one very small volume, usually no more than 30 pages.  No stress on your bag.  www.one-story.com for details.  So if you get to your date early, go to a coffee shop, get a latte, relax and entertain yourself.

Your conscientiousness is earning your stars in Escort heaven.

Nicely written from a guy raised in a big city who now lives in the sunshine state.  Come on down, we could use another beautiful lady or two.

I agree with a previous poster in that a cab "after" is a much safer alternative.  Be safe.

as the cheapest thrill ride outside the third world.

"Carborumdorum non illigetimus"

Place this on your bathroom mirror. I have had it on mine for years. It is one of the very first things I learned in latin class.

Fr. Gavin and Sister Mary tought us boys latin by teaching us how to swear. (there IS a method to the madness....it worked)

Translated it means..."Don't let the basterds get to ya...."

Give yourself a big hug/kiss for me dear.....

Wow.  What an interesting perspective.  I'm from South Carolina but have had many trips over the years to New York.  It is one of my favorite places to visit.  I think it really helps a hobbyist to understand what a provider goes through... especially if he wants to be a good hobbyist.

Perhaps you should take a break... come down south... and let some warm sand fill between your toes.

Hey there,
I don't kow how far uptown you live, so I can understand that cabs might not be available or become cost prohibitive at a certain point.  I however, ALWAYS cab it.  Even before I was involved in the Hobby, I referred to myself as a "cab whore" for the sheer frequency that I use them.  As a native NYer, I spent more than enough time on the trains in my childhood and it is a rare occaision that I use them as an adult.  Why not consider adding the cost into your outcall fee?
