i always _listen_ to advice: from spouses, ex-spouses, old friends, compensated companions who look after my interests, and yes EVEN physicians. i maight not accept their advice but they know i've listened.
when i choose NOT to accept the advice, i have a clear understandable rationale. out of the above list, my physician always knows he works for me. for instance, so if i reject his advice i have some research to back me up. the others, listed i treat collaboratively. i.e. better than my doctor.
you'll notice my lawyer didn't make the list at all!
it is important that folks feel listened to even if you disagree. listening does not mean you've been Bobbited.

Bwahahahahaha, I highly doubt it. In which case that inflated dollar is still worth more to me than the 'precious metal' at the beginning and end of a session 
Where does one go about selling such metal at market value? I know pawn shops do not pay market value, so really the lady loses out in the end. Unless of course she wants to just have a neckless or bracelet made.

If you need immediate turnover, where the funds from a session go immediately to keep the lights on; precious metals are a seriously bad deal and you absolutely do not want them. That's because exchanging them for a fair market price takes about a week. If you are just turning over one gold coin, the shipping costs are also not good. So turn over one gold coin in a week, and it doesn't make financial sense.
The reason why men will offer a precious metal is because it holds its value.
5 years ago, how much did a bottle of Diet Coke cost? A pack of gum?
Despite rigged government inflation numbers, compare those prices of 5 years ago to today and you will quickly discover that prices have risen nearly 75% in that time. That means your dollar has lost value.
Now, take the time and look up what gold cost 5 years ago compared to today. You will see that gold maintained its value. In terms of dollars, it is worth more. In terms of buying power, it has stayed the same. Unlike dollars.
When a man offers you precious metal, he is not offering you the present; he is offering the future. Purchasing precious metal is a pain in the ass for him. For him to offer it to you means he wants you to have it as an investment option as one part of your portfolio for your future. He is assuming you are financially secure in the present so would place value on an asset of that sort.
It would be like offering you stock in Microsoft. The fact you can't instantly spend that as money doesn't mean it has no value. It is for your future, not today.
Obviously, if someone has an instantaneous cash need, the future is not on their mind.
If he really wanted to exchange it, he could do so for a fair price at a place like this, rather than a pawn shop. Of course you get ripped off at a pawn shop.
