I've been shopping recently... ads that have misspelling, poor grammar or a bunch of symbols just turn me off. I'm not elitest but simple grade school language skills is not too much to ask for someone who is an adult.
I know the symbols are commonly found on CL and are meaningless & annoying waste of space. I know everyone peeks at CL once in a while... but this trait really down grades my first imperssion.
No web site. A single picture... no matter how hot... gives me great pause. Why? Because that single image is often fake in some way. I don't need explicit pictures, but a few photos from different angles, different props & accessories... greatly increases my confidence that the photos are really her.
For all you lovely ladies who already do this thank you.

Why is bad grammar such a turn off? I know why it would be a turn off for me and perhaps my reasons are a bit unfair.

thats one of my biggest pet peeves on the planet.
It is simple my dear. Proper grammar and spelling gives the right impression for many readers. The opposite is true when not proper. The impression would be of someone who does not care enough to communicate properly to her potential clientele.
It takes very little time for the provider who cares enough to run her prose though something as easy as Microsoft Word to review it for grammar and spelling prior to putting it in her website. Word is not always right; however it beats just writing for the sake of getting thoughts down. Does it really matter that much on discussion forums? No, not really.
As the OP pointed out (unfortunately not well enough to preach the subject) it is important enough for him to begin a thread on English and grammar.
Your command of the english language. However, your spelling could use a bit of work. Not much, but a bit. As you graciously pointed out to me, spelling does not matter too much when replying to or posting threads on a disucssion board. However, why is spelling and proper grammer not important on a discussion board? There are some gentlemen who would rip a lady to shreds for her poor exercise in grammer. A lot of gentlemen also base the decision to see a lady on her board presence.
Thankfully, I am one who truly does not give too much importance to discussion boards.

You are correct on the point of Spell Check being everyone's best friend and some ought to take the time and effort to utilize such an important tool while creating ads. (Please do not call me out on the run on sentence..this is only a discussion board after all) LOL
After all, first impressions are everything, correct?
My reasons for proper use of the english language are a bit off the beaten path. Perhaps one day, I shall share them.

And, "Not much, but a bit." is a sentence fragment. Grammar is spelled with an a rather than an e. Your statement should be, "I have asked him.... using FEWER than a hundred words". You don't have a run-on sentence.

fluently than her English skills, myself. I do have to admit I'm partial to wimmenz who express themselves well, though.
We should get together and talk about how awful it is that people use media as a singular noun!!
to me than grammar or spelling. I don't hold a few misplaced letters or words against a girl.
I am not hiring a copy editor, I want a lady who knows how to please me.
Also the reviews usually mention her demeanor and body type, which is more vital to me than writing skills.
A picture with a great smile trumps any number of typos in my book.

Whether people agree, misspellings and poor grammar communicate ignorance. I don't think IQ and spelling and grammar ability correlates equally, because I know some highly intelligent people who can't spell for crap. In the provider world, men like intelligence. When a woman is intelligent, thoughtful and is also good at all things horizontal mambo, she is usually ahead of her competition for the available dollars in a certain area. Ever wonder why some guys only see visiting ladies? Well, it's partly because they create compelling ads, use professional photography, and are very professional in all they do. Conversely, the CL and BP bimbos stick their asses out and ask for 300 roses and then take half that because the guys they are attracting don't have the expendable income and thus the haggling. However if I am shopping *websites* I am generally looking for LTR potential, in which case I have fairly high standards...
For me:
An ad or webpage that does not show some reasonable effort at style, does not convey some humor, personality or intelligence
does not treat the lady herself and her clients with dignity.
uses vulgarities
has vulgar, tasteless, ugly or unbelievable (lol) pics
"Is there a job or vocation in modern America where a person can satisfactorily function being illiterate?"
After several unsuccessful tries by my classmates and the teacher proving that a modicum of 'literacy' was needed at even the most proletariat of jobs mentioned I blurted out "A HOOKER!! All they need have is the most basic of math skills"
The teacher was mortified I posed such an answer, and angry that he could not sufficiently rebuke my answer.

The ghetto slang is an instant "NEXT".
I don't want to read "mines", "cuz", or "booty call" on a website or an ad. Spell out the words in English.
Other turn offs include photos that are poor in clarity, or only show a rack, feet, or ass.
I am interested in full body shots. Without them I will not book, regardless of the appearance scores.
The college/student ads also make me pause. Don't lie. you have not been a nursing student for the last 15 years. I don't need your educational back round anyhow.
I could go on, but those are my main peeves.
I totally understand why poor spelling and ghetto inferences would turn you off. But why would any use of the word "classy" and let's throw in "upscale" crack any of you up?
I'm just curious. Can you honestly say that all ladies/escorts are on equal footing?

to answer your question..not all providers are equal in all aspects. lol. The sooner gents realize this and get over that fact..and the sooner providers get over this fact as well. I am ME...and that's all I can be. Either you want to spend time with me, or you dont!

The problem arises in that, sometimes, when a person feels the need to call attention to an attribute; it is because that attribute is actually in short supply.
In general, a classy provider's marketing (site, ads) will convey classiness implicitly without needing to call specific attention to it.
It's kind of like a provider who has a couple of science degrees. By listing those degrees on her site and noting her interest in those fields, she doesn't have to put up a big neon sign saying she is intelligent -- I already know that implicitly.
Generally, if you've got class, you don't need to tell me.
And some terms, such as "upscale" -- perhaps because I am cynical when it comes to marketing -- I see mainly as a means of appealing to status-seeking tendencies in inducing men to part with excessive funds in exchange for diminished value. Such terms are used to sell apartments at a premium that are no better than the ones across the street.
So I see the term as an amorphous attempt to appeal to male status-seeking tendencies rather than a statement of a particular attribute possessed by the provider.
What, exactly, does an "upscale" provider have that another doesn't? Looks? Education? A 100% STD-free guarantee? Show me the specific desirable attribute that an "upscale" provider has that is nonexistent in those that don't use that term in their marketing.

Up until last summer, in order to specifically AVOID pretentious providers, I specifically verified as a "poor dumb farmer." Because I own a farm, it was easy.
In this way, I could weed out the snobs.
Hey, snobs have a right to be in business too. And they can grab all the business they like from guys who appreciate and relate to snobbishness.
But because I tend to repeat; I don't want to spend much time/effort/money on someone who is overly impressed with form rather than substance.
Over time, those providers who would deal equitably with the "poor dumb farmer" received access to the scientist, engineer, philosopher and more -- often to their greater benefit.
One can learn a lot from Anderson's and Grimm's fairy tales.
This is one of my major comlaints about the business. Ladies please understand that men like women of all shapes and sizes. Some men like then thin, some like them big. Please just show us what you have. Don't try to be something you are not.
I think all women have some feature which is desirable. It may be beautiful eyes, a great smile, fabulous breasts, great body, gorgous face, nice legs, great lips, what ever it is let us see it in your ad, highlight your possitive attributes, but don't try to hide that extra weight or those big thighs. At least I can say, I don't care as long as we know what to expect.
There is nothing worse than meeting for the first time, expecting someone thin and finding she is not or the opposite, expecting someone whith a nice thick booty and finding a pencil thin model type with snake hips.
To me, a web ad does not need to be fancy, but a sloppily presented ad indicates (to me) that she will potentially be a lazy and careless provider. Either with our time or our privacy/discretion.
Ad issues (some are more/less egregious):
- Basic presentation.
- Hard to find the most basic info - WHERE you play, rates, contact info
- Photos you click on and they barely get larger or they even get smaller
- Photo widgets that take forever to load or are hard to navigate (spinning collages), or that make me go back and forth a lot.
- Preaching to me. Simple messages about what not to say/discuss, or about cleanliness are great. However, I have seen some that are over the top.
if they can't have a coherent conversation about scheduling an appointment. With some providers I feel like I have to tell them when to wake up, shit, shower, shave, how to get there... and then I am still worries I'll get NCNS'ed
