I'm assuming that you have tried the contact form and gotten no satisfaction.
Unfortunately sometimes it's easier to put an ad up on some of these sites than it is to take one down. These types of sites just love having a lot of listings even if many of them are old or no good anymore.
Hopefully your friend used contact info that will safely isolate her escorting identity from her real world identity. You can keep trying to get through to the site or have a lawyer contact them. Unless your friend has face shots on their that she is worried about it's probably not worth the expense of getting legal help. Hopefully she is just another anonymous dead link on the site.
Nah, I really appreciate some of the tips. Unfortunately, many of her picts do have clear face shots of her. I guess for now she and I will continue to be vigilant on pulling the ad. I just don't want it to get to the "lawyer point," if you know what I mean, but if it has to, then I guess it has to.
I'm going to give it a couple more weeks before we consider legal action.
Sometimes if you even threaten legal action the sites are more willing to help you remove it. Maybe try to speak with someone in their legal dept ?? Don't know if they would have one but it might be worth a try. Good luck to your friend!
Several months ago I had two advertisements removed from that website by threatening legal action because they were using my likeness with images that they had not purchased NOR secured a signed model release form for indicating that use was permitted.
The owner of the site wrote a snide response and told me that I should 'reconsider dismissing free advertisement' BUT he did remove my images and unauthorized advertisement in less than 24 hours.
I'm glad that you brought this up; I had long forgotten about it and it is clear that they have again fished escort malls (Eros and Backpage) and have copied my advertisements again.
I will not contact them again though- I said previously that if I appeared on their website my lawyer would on my behalf and I intend on making good on that.
I wish your friend luck - but it is apparent that she (as well as all other providers who have not consented to their likeness being used on that website and object to it) needs to consult with an attorney.
In my business, I've found that "cc'ing" my lawyer on the copy of a collection or notification letter sent out gets quicker action (without my lawyer cost).
There is no such thing as being a "former provider" only a "non-practicing provider"... If the phone keeps ringing, I'd say she'd better spread-leg and make hay in this downward-spiraling economy...
Have you tried calling the # in the ad? Is is in service?
Maybe rather than trying to remove her ad, she just needs to get the PH# in the ad updated and go back in biz! Surely her "new career" can't be paying as well as her old one did...
