I'd be rather curious to see if this tactic would work for providers: to my knowledge, it is not illegal for a police officer to lie when asked if they are a member of LE.  

But, for those lawyers out there, what if a provider were to produce a bible (before hand) and ask a customer to swear under penalty of perjury?  I wonder if it would hold up in court and provide some much needed protection for providers?

Additionally, I would find it ironic if providers started swearing in their clients on the Bible.

Perjury is the willful telling of a mistruth under oath. A court can put someone under oath.

It would not be purjury because a provider can not place someone under oath, bible or no bible.

It is not the bible in court which compels truthful testimony. It is the force of law and the power of the court. The use of a bible is more of a custom than a requirement.

So what is the best method for both providers and hobbyist to protect themselves agains LE?
