Browsing TER in public networks

Is it safe to browse TER, CV, or any other escort sites when using public wifi networks such as the library, starbucks, college dorms?

Are you taking a risk if you visit TER while connected to starbucks' free wifi while having some coffee? or if you're a college student browsing these sites on campus dorms?

I heard students at college get busted for downloading music and movies, so it makes me wonder if they can track what sites you've been visiting and bust you for browsing these sites?

I've been a bit paranoid about this, so the only time I browse these sites are at home... but most of the time I'm out and am using free public wifi's. It would be a lot more convenient if I can safely visit these sites while connected to public networks since I spend most of my time on the web using the internet provided by these networks, but until I know it's completely safe.. I don't want to to take the risk.

It is perfectly legal to read and study P4P, so you can't get in trouble just for browsing TER. It is the booking that is not advisable. This advice does not include your work place or using your works internet connection as you may and probably are violating a rule at work and could be subject to disciplinary action from them.

In my experience trying to connect via lots of public hotspots, TER and most other "adult" sites are blocked by the hotspot providers.

Do worry about on campus if it's the school's network you'r using.

Use a proxy server to log on to sites containing adult material or anything else you're worried about getting "busted" for. This will hide your IP address on the web, and maintain your privacy within the network.

If presented with a subpoena the proxy server owner will turn over your history.

This is an extremely unlikely scenario for the simple use of TER but be aware that the proxy server shield is not 100%.

he's a college kid wanting to look at hookers, not a Russian spy. His school is not going to subpoena the host for his browsing history. Unless he's hacking their network in his free time...

I read/post on TER from any wifi my laptop will pick up.  Never had a problem.

I also check TER at hotels, at the public computer(s) in the business room.  Never had a problem.  Funny thing...when I login, I always see the TER name of the last escort or hobbyist who was there before me.

One time I glanced at the screen of someone else in the room and he was reading TER.  True story!!!

I'm in the breakfast area of a Holiday Inn Express right now, using their wireless while working on a project with coworkers.  Yes, my laptop is pointed into a corner so my screen isn't visible to them or anyone else.

More importantly, I really DID stay at a HI Express last night, so I can do anything.  What I'm going to do next is sleep, so if any providers are looking for me, please knock, and don't leave until I stagger to the door, lol.
