Slow demand, rising prices

Hey all, just reading through posts over the past few months and it seems things are somewhat slow lately but it also seems from the ad board that prices are higher than they used to be.  Seems counter to classic economic theory of supply and demand.

Are my two observations correct (slower market/rising prices) or are either of those two wrong?

Some providers never lower their rates regardless, and some go up. I don't know what to tell you, but the women who need money the most, will be the only ones who have to obey the market.

Dear Ms. Rayne:
Although you mention that things are picking back up because school is in session, I am just wondering since most of your colleagues would say that the summer is slower than most other times of year, would the revenue trend upward continue to say just about around Christmas time?  Also I am also wondering now, with respect to your clients domestic responsibilities, that it would be easier for them to get an hour with you since they might see you when they are in transit to their homes.  However, would this be a good thing for your regulars since that is where the crux of your solid and dependable revenue would lie or would it be great for your out of town people who come to visit you when they are on business?  Also would you tend to get a boost from certain events that would be held in an around New Orleans such as Mardi Gras or Music events that would be held around the city from time to time? Just asking because I know that, that would be the grade and quality of clientele that you would want as a business woman.

When I ran an agency, holidays seemed to be so damned busy because many men were alone or on the road without their families. Too bad, most of the hookers did have families and were not willing to work, or it could have been a killer boost! I don't take any more calls in busy seasons than I do in slow ones, so I can only speak from the amount of inquiries I get rather than the amount of calls I actually take.

I do not see very many international clients, as New Orleans is not exactly the business center of the world like that of NYC ha ha. We get more Doctors and Lawyers here, than anything else for conventions, but Mardi Gras attracts them all and I leave town that week.

Since school started, business has picked up. I can't speak for others, but my rates haven't changed because of it. I know some ladies feel the need to raise their prices for a different number of reasons, though. High demand could definitely be a contributing factor in their decision.

I have kept my rates exactly the same as well as menu items. I have seen a slight increase in business, in particular my number of repeat clientele. I no longer am actively advertising and have not had to in 9 months. I also have another job, so I am not solely dependent on this biz. I feel very lucky and grateful for my good fortune.

Hate when I want it and they upsell, but, yes, I'm weak, particularly where the big ticket babes are concerned.

The market bifurcates.

The middle loses out, and everyone either cheapens up their rates in order to get more voume, or they raise their prices and squeeze more out of their existing ciients.  In either approach, the tactic is to attract a new client base.

Girls who were underpriced at $300/hour are now trying to get $400/hour and tap into a different segment than the girls who were $300/hour and now are charging $200/hour.

But actually, this is a bad example.  A $400/hour client isn't gonna be that different than a $300/hour client, at least not in NYC.  In NYC, the midline was $500 for a good escort.  The ones who can command, say, $700/hour or more are tapping into a different clientele than the $500/hour ones.  Those guys don't care about $700 vs. $800 vs. $1000/hour.  They want quality and book multiple hours, and it's not a big difference.  Provide a good service, look hotter than fire, and you will always have that clientele.

The ones that got $500/hour in a good economy that can only charge $350/hour aren't as hot, aren't as great in session, etc.

The challenging economy is like the tide going out when there's a bunch of naked swimmers:  You really get an idea of who is who, and what each person can charge.

I have seen rates really drop in the Chicago area. Agencies charging $400 now are charging $300. And..they are placing ads on Backpage for high end girls. I have seen rates for nice women around $250.

Chicago has several agencies. Washington DC has had a terrible year with LE closing down many businesses like ClassyDC.
