Why are summers slow for the hobby?

I hobby fairly frequently and have noticed for the last few years that summers tend to be slow with visiting providers etc. Any reason for that?

Less business travel/More family travel means fewer traveling clients.  Might not affect all cities, but is a major issue in DC and I assume a few other places.

Kids out of school really limits travel for some single moms.

its so slow its gettin to me , just the other day as i was passing a flagger in a road construction zone , i spied her holding a sign that read : "SLOW"
I heckled ; "hey baby! howd you know thats how I like it!"
