For me I try to stick to a budget. Have automatic savings so money needed for investing and other things is invested before it gets to my checking account. I will admit that if the money stays in my checking account too long I will spend it on the hobby.

I have a rule, never hobby more than once every 5 days. On Sundays I take out a certain amount for the week. If I want to see a provider for multiple hours or someone out of the normal hourly rate, I will save up, by taking out on the next Sunday and not spending the current weekly amount that I took out.

I know in the past I would spent bonus, emergency funds, house down payment, income tax rebates, vacation pay, etc on the hobby like water going down the drain.

In the past, I used to hobby once every couple of weeks. I tried to cut back, but no amount of saving measures worked for me until I found some meaningful goal to replace my goal of having pussy after pussy after pussy.

Initially it was buying a house, which I achieved last year. One has to be stupid not to buy house in this market with home prices still low and interest rate at the lowest..

Then I replaced it with another goal.

Now, I only hobby once every couple of months and couldn't be happier..

Will it work for everyone? I don't know....It definitely worked for me.

I am trying to help someone else before they over spend like I did in the past. Many guys won't admit it but they are doing the same thing or have done the same thing in the past.

I have also heard of stories where some hobbyists have sent their kids to really hard colleges so they could flunk out so they would not have to continue to pay for college expenses. They did it so they could spend the money on the hobby.

Stick to your budget. For me, that generally means once or twice per month. All bills get paid first and a certain percentage is put away for major expenses like property taxes and emergency home repairs. Whatever is left over is available for providers but at today's average rates, 1-2x each month is all I'm a able to do. There's no way in hell I'm going broke for this hobby. I have a target retirement date and fully intend to retire on time.

Get a reality check by analyzing how much you spend on providers and that should be enough to shock you into controlling yourself. Stick to your budget or you'll be working until the day you die. Now there's a reality check

I try to do it twice a month, so every 2 weeks I go to the bank to withdraw money ( 100s and 50s bills, some ladies don’t like the bunch of 20s) and put it  inside a boring book. But a few months ago I got a small 2.5K Bonus at my job, and it went up to the hobby... I don't know if I'm already a "sex addict" that prefers to use the euphemism of “hobbyist”.  Of course, I mean I’m a responsible adult that takes care of the important stuff first, but this new hobby has taken precedence over all my others.
I have regulars, so I try to see a regular and 1 or 2 new girls in between, but sometimes I wait a week or two to see my fav girls.

But everyone is different, and if that works for you, great.

This thread comes across like the all too common mentality lately where people refuse to take personal accountability. Nothing is ever anyone's fault, there's always something else to blame. Join a support group for overspenders. Hand the bank card and checkbook to the SO or a friend. Or be a responsible adult and set a $$ limit every month, and use ol' righty when that money is spent. This isn't rocket surgery, it should be common sense.

 I don't think 'addiction' is an accurate term to use in the sex trade.  Let's assume you have a normal sex drive ( for argument's sake, let's say sex three times a week).  If  you're paying for it every time, then three sessions a week will financially break most guys.  Given the price range of girls I want to fuck, I'd go broke at that rate.  But the problem here isn't an 'addiction' to sex--the sex drive in this example isn't unusual. Even fucking every day is pretty common for young couples.  These people are not sex addicts.

To keep tabs on average monthly costs, etc. Also average days between dates. I have another rule where I try not to see the same provider in less than 30 days (i keep track of the dates I see each provider). Sometimes that is hard to do if a provider gives good service.

It's just like many who keep track of their poker sessions.  I am amazed how this truly appears to be an obsession for some.  I scheduled an appointment last week.....provider was a no show.  Didn't break out in hives.  Tried to schedule one for Saturday....didn't hear back from the lady until Sunday afternoon.  Didn't feel the need to contact 3 or 4 others to get my "fix" and didn't break out in hives.  I'm hoping to schedule with that same gal for this Friday, but I don't think I'll break out in hives if it doesn't work out.

That is why I have a back up plan. Last week the wife was too tired. The civie on the side had something come up a work, then I called up a provider to get my fun in.

You are over thinking it. Simply ALLOW yourself x amount of dollars per week to spend on escorts and don't go above it...done deal.

You are not a man and will never understand. You have no idea on the strong impulses (it is like a drug) and what we have to do to keep things in check. Writing things down/ie keeping a spreadsheet keeps things in check. It is a self reminder. Having internet on 24x7 makes it worse, especially with the smart phone technology.

Not ALL men have your same lack of self control though. That in itself proves you need a professional therapist, and not really advice from other addicts. I may not understand what is like to be a man, but I do understand self control. I have had my own issues with impulses, but they were easily mastered when something more important was brought to light. If writing things down helps you, then by all means do that.

Well, I think I'm not alone. Most men have constant thoughts on sex. In the gym if you see a hottie, in the supermarket, in the office and even worse on the internet. I haven't missed my financial obligations because the hobby, just when I had extra money I decided to spend it on women. No remorse, but just the thought I might not be able to control myself.
I think it  is the novelty of the hobby - just been on this like 9 months -- the thrill of meeting and having sex with beautiful women that in normal circumstances won’t be possible, it's so good, like a drug. I'm not a lonely guy; I have family and have had some flings. It’s just what Evolution has imprinted in my genes: need for variety.
I also think most of the frequent ‘contributors’ in this forum are constantly thinking on sex, not only on girls, but also what other men think, are doing or planning to do, and of course the fine sport of sarcasm, that sometimes is just plain  cyberbullying.
Well, I'm now preparing to choose my next date, as my ATF extended her vacation ...

I don't pay for sex, but I have strong urges for other things that I pay for.

I can create a budget to spend no more than $x on a pleasure of mine. Quicken keeps me updated on how much of the budget I've spent.
It's all about being aware of your finances and having self control.
