Douche is not a way to be clean, it is an outdated method to clean up after a period. It actually can cause more problems than it solves for the woman. It may take a couple days (to develop a yeast infection for instance) but the instant results would just be a masking of another problem.
Woman need to learn how to clean under the 'hood'. The clitoral hood. It is essentially equal to the foreskin of a man.
If it's a different problem, one that might require a doctor's visit (for Bacterial Vaginosis, BV for short, or chlamydia, or I think even trichomoniasis) then these are things that a proper wash with not alleviate. (You are going to have to research these yourself) These things can cause an odour that cannot simply be washed away, maybe for a moment but it is still there.
I know that BV and chlamydia can cause an odour, usually a fishy-type smell. I have heard that trichomoniasis can also cause that odour but it depends on who you ask. So that is up in the air.
Oral on a woman who has anyone of those things will not be able to transmit it in that method as the mouth (saliva) is a good means to protect nastiness from making it into our bodies (that's why you can't get AIDS from kissing). But I'm sure there can be a odd exception so never is anything 100% certain.. If she has a fishy odour (slight or otherwise) it can be caused by eating too much protein (meat) that her body is not able to process properly (same can be said for a man with a fishy odour) or she has something that a doctor can help her with. And you washing her if that is what you intend to do to make sure it good enough for you, can only lead to a 'mistake' where soap gets in her vagina and ends up adding to the problem by putting her at risk for a yeast infection too!
When a woman chooses this as a profession, she should be on top of any odour. Sadly, even professionals can be uninformed about these things. Civie girls can think that fishy smell is the smell of the sex. So see how these uninformed notions can be carried into the profession... there is no training or education before starting this job... so these STI's are just thought of as the cost of having sex!!
If you have to ask her to wash there is a good chance she her standards are lower than you might wish. Or she could just be ignorant as to the true way to manage her hygiene. That can happen with younger girls who never had a BF complain (he was just as ignorant as she was, and/or he has never realized that a pussy can be fresh cuz he's never had it, simply because of the misinformation available when you are learning about sex and your body). Or she is higher volume and cannot commit to more excellent hygiene..and, her inner voice probably tells her: Why should I? They keep coming anyways!!
It's up to you to decide how to handle it. If her standards are lower than you wish, does it really matter if she washes specifically for you? If she is in need of a doctors visit, will you be the one to diagnose her? If she is high volume, again, because they keep coming (and some through being uniformed, unaccustomed to fresh pussy) still offer oral on her, are you going to be the one to educate her? Most girls would be insulted if they are uneducated.
If I have encountered a guy who really needed to clean himself better, because of my position, I could tell him. It would also serve him to wash better and more thoroughly. But in your position...its more difficult. If guy refused or still did a shody job he would be missing out, plain and simple. What's the best protocol when you're a DATY lover but she's not practiced good hygiene? Should you tell her in a polite way that she might want to wash up a bit or douche? How best to say that? Or just skip the DATY even though you love it? Or something else ?
