I get it's a fuck board. My point is it is possible to engage in lively debate without resorting to name calling and other stupidity.

Do not bull shit yourself, but if you must. Please don't take offense, when some one else chooses not to believe it.
That's not the point. Debate requires disagreement by definition. The point...and this compliments part of what you are saying....you can disagree with someone without calling them an idiot or whatever. The disagreement is often not the reason for offense...rather, the poor treatment is what inspires ire. I concede that is not always the case. To your point, Some people can't bear the thought that they aren't right.

How many debates have we had about this being a fuck board by the way? 
The boards were most fun when they were moderated by LP and GaG, when they were much more crazier than they are right now.. After dipping to their lowest of the lows last Feb, current state of the boards is not all that bad...
If you try to add more civility to the board, you will miss out on the fun factor..
Lets not forget, this is a fuck board for Johns and Hookers..

I basically agree. But it's nowhere near as good as when those two were the mods. They controlled the worst of the trolls and idiots and maintained a kind of rational anarchy here. In general, even the train wrecks were more intelligent then and there was more useful information because there were more experienced posters. Many have left.
As for civil rules of debate ever being followed here, don't hold your breath.
I wish some of those old guys would come back though. From time to time, they peep, only to recede back into hibernation.

Its true that a small handful of men choose the "mob rules" approach to achieving their dose of bullying for each day. I have only noticed 1 female who enjoys that m/o. They're just suffering from arrested development. You will notice that they rarely answer the OP question and just to their insecure insults. My advice is too use the board to shop only and maybe admin will put their foot down. Yeah Right haha!
To me, it's also how this board polices itself. When you have trolls and idiots around like Udolt, RidgeSchmucky, The Dung Beetle and FIDIOT, they need to be dealt with. There seems to be a group of like-minded people here who agree.
Others are free to disagree, of course.

It first amazed me how my Ex and I would be engaged in vigorous verbal congress about possibly the 'Utility bill'. Suddenly she would fly off on some rant about some obscure thing I said or did years prior that pissed her off; and had absolutely NO relevance to the "Utility bill".
I quickly learned to ignore her digressing much as I now ignore a vocabulary challenged board debate.
I do that when I'm done with a trivial debate want someone to just STFU lol
The best we can hope for is that the trolls are held to a high standard and are at the very least amusing...
For me, the anti-trolls are as much a part of the problem as the trolls.
They need to accept that trolling will always be with us, and encourage the more skilled practitioners...
