There are many websites that will tell the risks involved in giving and receiving most sex acts and the corresponding diseases you can catch.

You are right! It would be absolutely wonderful if everytime you met with a provider, she could show you a sheet full of test results saying she's void of any possible disease. BUT...even if she had proof, how do you know she hasn't caught something since she was tested? How do you know those results are even valid to begin with?

Testing for sex workers just isn't a requirement.  Also, as someone who has worked in a medical lab, (in the ob/gyn field) I do know that some diseases don't even show up positive on a test unless the patient is having a flare-up. (ie-herpes)

When you dabble in the hobby, its a risk you take. I would like to think more often than not, people don't get diseases, but the numbers say differently.

I guess we just have to be as careful as we possibly can and use universal precaution: Assume everyone has something, so protect yourself to the utmost degree!

And I know what you're going to say - NO, it's not about bbfs...I wear condoms each time, every time, but condom or not, I don't want to have sex with someone with an STD.

Even seeing same-day test results is no guarantee that the person is 100% safe...but still, it shows me that at some recent time, this person was free and clear. And, that he conducts himself in such a way that he is willing and eager to share his status.  

There are no 100% guarantees...but I do think that out of respect, we should provide (and be able to ask) for proof of STD status. (this goes for both providers and clients)

You want to know how to have sex with no risk of disease?
Don't have sex.

You say, use a condom? Yeah, because condoms never break, fail, or slip off. No body fluids ever get inside or around the condom.

You say, have sex with a committed partner? Yeah, because people never cheat.

You say get tested? Please. You can get tested today and catch a disease tomorrow.

So many think they can "minimize the risk", and jump all over people who take more risks than they do.

In other words, they believe that the amount of risk that they take is just the right amount. Anybody not willing to take that much risk is a prude or a coward. Anybody taking more risk is a psychotic thrill-seeker.

Fact there is no required testing in an illegal occupation. Some ladies test some do not. Much like the guys that do this. Do not assume the lady test or practices safety with everyone. Even the ones that test often do not get throat cultures done because of the reduce risk. Do you test and get through swabs? I do

The risk for the ladies is higher for "OWO" then for guys. Fact is you can get several STD's even if the risk is lower than unprotected vaginal sex. I got chlamydia in that way. You can get sick from OWO. How common is it? No one knows. That is the truth.

First and foremost...your mantra should always be, be it in the hobby world or in the civilian world, "there is no such thing as safe sex, only safer sex."

With that in mind, it's up to each and every person to decide how much risk they are personally comfortable with. That requires becoming as educated as possible about what the risks are. Fellatio is a very low risk activity when it comes to HIV. It does pose higher risks for STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis...and there is more risk for the giver than the receiver. Therefore, it is less risky of an activity when the giver does not ingest semen, or at least spits it out quickly.

There is a chance that you could get herpes through OWO, but the chances of that are vanishingly small. Herpes Simplex 1 is the virus that causes cold sores, and 80% of the population has it. A majority of carriers are largely asymptomatic. Herpes Simplex 2 is the virus that causes genital herpes. The chances that someone has HS1 on their genitals or HS2 on their mouth is highly unlikely...but not impossible.

While testing isn't prevention, it does keep you informed of your own health status and helps to protect others. It is important to get tested often and regularly. Not all STDs have symptoms that show up right away. Syphilis, for example, can go largely unnoticed for months before stage 2 of the disease sets in. And many of the symptoms of chlamydia can be mistaken for other things such as bladder infections.

OWO-DATY-DATO even deep kissing all carry risks, the questions are: how much risk are you willing to accept? How bad are they? and what if anything can be done to decrease them?.  (Donald Trump, I am told, with not shake hands.) I have my own routine of prevention understanding it is not perfect, but I am not --at least at this time in my life-- willing to give up some of life's real pleasures.
