Trimming/Shaving and subsequent itchiness

Yes, I'm posting under an alias on this one.  So I'm single, and normally don't trim Mr. Happy and the twins.  But I hobby about once a month and like to clean it up down there before an appointment.

So I use a MicroTouch groomer and trim the hair so it's nice and presentable.  I tried shaving the sack once, but cut myself, so I don't do that anymore.

Here's the problem: about 12 hours later, the itchiness sets in like crazy and persists for like two weeks.  Is there anything I can do about this?  My research has said it's because the hair is growing, and I'm STD free, so I know it's nothing like that, but in the area particularly where the sac rubs against my thigh, it's driving me nuts!  (yes, bad pun intended)

Thoughts?

I use Phillips Body Groomer for trimming the forest.  I use a Gillette fusion with Edge to shave the boys, so far have not nicked once.  Have not had the itchiness problems. If it rubs your thighs, you must be wearing boxers or going commando.  I wear bikini briefs, no rubbing problem.

some nice underwear that has a larger sack area (no 'tightie-whities) that keep the boys covered but comfortable, and not rubbing against the thighs.

and he said that he uses Noxema or some type of lotion to cool it down. I hope this helps.

yeah, I have the same problem.

before any appointments I like to hop in the shower and clean the boys up but then my story is the same as yours for two weeks.

the girls always seem to notice and thank me but then I'm applying baby powder every morning for two weeks but ingrowns are still everywhere around the belt areas.

I tried shaving last year and had a serious problem with ingrown hairs. I had to iodine to remove the ingrown hairs. I ended up not being able to see providers for a few weeks because of the problem with the ingrown hairs.

I itch a little after shaving, just sprinkle a little powder down there.  Works for me.

That did not work for me. I had to use tweezers to pull the hair once the iodine caused the hair to loosen, ouch.

Unfortunately, when hair starts to grow back in it can be itchy, especially if you have thick-black hair. However, waxing helps it to grow back in smoother, although I can't imagine ripping the hair out of your balls to be very comfortable. :)

I'm not sure how electrolysis would work, but women do it so I would think it would be no different for a man, except some tingling and burning at the time of the appointment (which we have too).

Women have had to endure this for years (as well as shaving out legs), and most of us do this for every appointment. It doesn't feel well for us to get cut down there either, but we do it. You just need to find a safer way to shave the boys. I use Aloe Vera gel to soothe the redness and to seal a scrape if I have one. I also tell someone if I have cut myself so he can stay away from that area, but generally I don't cut myself and it's fine by the time I see someone, especially after using the gel.

I'm sure men could give you some good pointers on what type of razor to use down under. Ask the Aussies. ;)

Hugs,
Ciara

WHY????..call me an old timer (53)..but I've never shaved below...I always shower..am clean and never had an std..do you really think most women in general prefer their man shaved below?

So at least trim some. grasp the hair with your fingers and cut pieces of hair off with those kid scissors.
It's simple and safe.
Small hairs can be swallowed and aren't a bid deal but long ones are EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
A very unpleasant interruption to what WAS a good time.

I don't know about the ladies but I hate while getting a Bj they stop to remove a hair stuck in thier teeth :( I also had a provider tell me to use my deodorant stick on the area shaved to reduce the itching and redness. Also due this 3hrs before you see anyone and jump in the shower just before she arrives.

After grooming use hair conditioner on the hair to make sure the ends are as soft as possible. (I actually use conditioner as my shaving cream.  Works very well!) Also, make sure you are moving in the direction of hair growth and not against it.

With trimming or shaving every day you will not see the same negative after effects as the irregular shaving.

If you are not interested in doing so on a regular basis, look in the drug store for a product such as "Bump Stop" which will help with any ingrown hair issues.  The idea of looking to see if there are better briefs to prevent thigh rubbing is a good one too.

Thanks for your consideration!  We do appreciate nice grooming!

S.
