I hadn't heard of this until yesterday when a chick on Fetlife suggested we communicate via "Session."  It's a secure messaging app introduced about four years ago as a fork from Signal.  Unlike other secure apps, it does not require a link to a phone number or anything.  It runs on all smartphones and PC operating systems.  It's encrypted end to end and also uses a network of non-centralized servers through which messages are randomly routed so traceback is not possible.

I wonder if it would have utility in the escort biz because it offers total anonymity as far as linking messages to users.

At least there is a reasonable review available for people to look into. Some cons to consider, like slow messages. That might really suck if you're waiting in the parking area.

 
Also, while people like to make a big deal about E2E encryption the fact remains producing things costs money and there is clearly some validity to the old saying about the customer being the true product when they use a free mobile app. While signup doesn't require much information (apparently some contracts are required and with AI and Big Data that might be all that is needed) such a company would be in a prime position to make a man-in-the-middle attack. I suspect most have little to worry about as they but still the app is on your phone, is likely to require some permissions and may well be a vector to some exploitable path (say any of a bunch of other free apps you might have installed) path and your phone is now owned.

 
I think for those that are worried putting it on a burner phone and making sure you have no real world contacts on the burner phone you might get a marginal bump in protection. But it will also require whoever you want to session with use that app as well so you might have problems limiting your activity to only those providers who do. If you don't then what did you really gain.

Signal is associated with your phone number. Session is only associated with a randomly assigned multi-digit number. So Session cannot be traced back to either side, complete anonymity.

What i seek on FetLife is "free."

Practically the first contact would most likely be by standard cell texting.  But for long form conversations that may include sensitive information, the complete anonymity of Session could be useful.
