I get it...ppl without money can't invest. The point is...you can always do something. Demonstrate desire, motivation, drive, etc. There is not one silver bullet that is the "right" thing to do. When you interview with a prospective employer...the 'anything' you did will look better than whining about how no one will hire you. Libraries still exist (believe it or not) and are free. You can often use computer labs there and do free online training or checkout training manuals and teach yourself a new skill. When you are employed...put some of your money aside so that if you are ever unemployed and hit hard times...you have something in reserve.
In the end...if you lose your job and you didn't save any of your money....who do YOU have to blame? Before you all flame me...yes...bad things do happen to good people that do everything "right". These scenarios are often not straightforward. But no amount of analysis of the misfortune is going to change the present circumstance. However, hard work, drive, desire, etc....these can potentially change circumstance. There is always something you can do.
That's my point.

You need to improve your english communication skills. Both verbal and written. This is must in business and you can look at job posting on Monster or any other job site. They all say the same thing.

English courses from most Universities here are extremely hard. One comma splice, and you're not getting higher than a C.

They hire most qualified person within their salary range. I have seen hundred’s of resumes and hired hundreds of people. The one consistent issue I have encountered is resume inflation. They inflate their experience and their degrees are from on-line education. When you start asking questions, can’t answer.
I was about hire an individual for 85K past Friday. When we checked his education (which he stated was from University of Maryland) turned that he went Maryland but never graduated.

1. If you're over 45yo.
2. Too much education.
3. Too little education.
4. Formerly self employed or 1099 contractor.
5. Unemployed over 6 months.
6. Not employed doing the particular type job you're seeking for over 6 months.
7. Less than stellar credit rating.
8.Current IRS or State tax problems .
9. Criminal 'arrest' record (conviction is a worse story).
10. Medicate with a "Doctor prescribed drug" that Pfizer, Amgen, or Lilly do not currently market

I think the point you are raising here is...everyone will have to complete on-the-job-training of one form or another. Therefore, why do companies focus on such particular requirements in job candidates?
To a degree, you are correct. Everyone will need to learn context to be successful at a new job. But, the amount of training required can vary dramatically depending on the skill set and experience they bring to the table. The hiring manager creates a job description and may also put together a list of required skills to even be considered for a role. For entry level roles, these requirements are less demanding. As the salaries go up, so do the requirements. Employers demand you bring more to the table to warrant a higher compensation.
For instance, let's say your escort business is picking up to the point that you need to hire someone to do your screening and maintain your calendar, etc. Since you are working in the states where English is the predominate language of your clientele, you will more than likely choose someone that also speaks English very well. You could hire someone that doesn't know English and then "train" them to do the job. But, that would require a significant investment of your time and resources to teach them English. The entire time you are training them, you have to pay them. If you have two candidates that are otherwise equally qualified for your position, you would be a wise and prudent business manager to choose the candidate that will complete training the fastest so that they start contributing sooner....and thereby reduce your expense as the business owner.
This is an extreme example, I admit. But, it's not that extreme. I've had to choose between two candidates for a role within my organization and the only separating characteristic during the interview phases was their English. The ESL was unfortunately not the best fit for the role.

The "a-player" concept is not my creation. It is a fact of life. It's more real than any video game ever will be. Successful people and competent people want to work with other successful and competent people. Period.
Let's return to your escort business example from above. You've just hired a new screener/booker. He/she speaks wonderful English. However, after a time, you find out he/she is not completing your screening according to the guidelines you provided. Undesirable clients start showing up at your incall and you have some really bad sessions. Let me ask you...how long will you employ this screener/booker? They could be compromising your safety. My guess is that you'd have a very low tolerance for those types of performance issues.
In the civie business world...things don't usually get to a life/death point, thankfully. But, the point still applies. If you have a really good programmer on your software team...he/she will not want to work with shitty programmers. Because people that can write code are in very high demand, an adept programmer has more control over the working circumstances they tolerate. He/she could influence the development team manager to take corrective action to obtain better performance from a laggard employee...up to and including termination. If the manger does not act on these matters...the adept programmer will likely leave and find a better situation. This hurts the company..so..the manager is incentivized to prevent it.
The more in demand your skills are...the more control you have over your working circumstances. This is just simple economics. Supply and demand.

You're not necessarily wrong here. Some people do hire an image. And they are sometimes foolish to do so. I say sometimes...because...sometimes the image is what matters for a job. How many ugly news anchors can you think of?
A good hiring manager will know the requirements of the job or involve others in the interview process that do. The idea is to avoid the bad hire in the first place. That's why skilled positions will have more hoops to jump through to be considered for the job. But, an "A-player" recognizes that and appreciates the scrutiny. This is actually an indicator that this company takes the hiring process seriously and cares about hiring people that are a good fit
They will not hire you. This is the reason most applications have the following questions:
Do you have any relatives working for the company or its divisions?
Has any of your relatives worked for the company or its divisions?
Most companies have strict rule against spouses working for the company and employees dating each other and getting married. If it does happen, in some companies, one has to leave and in some companies, both spouses cannot work for the same boss, and division.
Is this allowed by EEOC. Absolutely. EEOC only mandates equal treatment and as long as policy is applied uniformly, there are no issues with EEOC.
People blame numerous things that has nothing to do with them getting a job. Instead they need to think through the real reasons. There are many books, read a few and take the best ideas from all. Minimum of 3 books.

The insidious thing is 'It is NOT the American Government denying your Rights! The Government IS however ‘complicit’ as well as immune.

20 years ago mainly commercial airline pilots, tractor-trailer, heavy equipment operators and other high responsibility jobs required a job applicant to piss in a cup. Today selling Christmas trees in a shopping center parking lot requires a urological sample, and even if you have a ‘Doctors prescription’ for what is found in your urine you can be rejected for presence of the long past metabolized substance.
In short our Bill of Rights has been pimped to the corporations who will use, abuse and deny for whatever is in THEIR interest. And if you petition for your historical Civil Rights the Government will essentially say "Not my Job...Man"
Depending on where you live, employment is a hot commodity and once you have been out of the working force, employers do tend to question gaps between jobs. Even if it is for 6 months and not years. If you talk to many providers, you'll notice that quite a few have either taken up part-time work for their own reasons (ie health benefits, advancement for future career growth, etc) or have an entrepeneurial side project that if not brings--states the potential, to bring in financial profit and gain.
The key is to ALWAYS have a business plan/strategy in line for the sake of your CV. If someone doesn't and they are making a clean break back into a corporate atmosphere, lack of protecting yourself and credibility is on them. Best advice, always stay active in the community in ways that benefit your situation
Yes, putting career student and home maker on a resume does set you back, and it's harder than ever to get anyone to take you seriously. I've been turned down for being over qualified on one hand, and for not having enough experience on the other hand.
When you go into a Human Resources Dept. full of catty women for a Mgmt. position with a Master's Degree, they fear you will eventually take their job, so they blow you off....the CEO never knows about this, of course. OTOH, when you apply for a damn entry level position with that same degree, they think you're just taking any job you can get and will quit in six months when you find a better one. I have had more trouble finding a job in the last 2 years than I did right out of high school, and that's fkin sad. The job I took has NOTHING to do with my field, except that it is health related, but I am nowhere near the position my degree prepared me for. I took it, because I figured I had to start somewhere. The pay and benefits are decent, but the hours suck.
If you file for unemployment they look at that as a bad thing...that's just how it is. They fear you will do that to them if you don't work out at their co. and don't want to hire a person they might have to pay NOT to work in the future.

First of it is not illegal because there is no discrimination of any kind involved. Company’s can have any policy as long as it is not discriminatory and applied uniformly to all applicants.
Second, I would say I was layer off from my last job, and I am did some part time work of short duration (depending on the type of work), it is not unusual, even for programmers to work on a contract for 10 days, a month or whatever. If it is forklift driver, they may work a day or two here and there.
The best policy always is to tell the truth and remembering there are 100 other companies out there for one idiot company

I was going to say the same thing. And he should really try to get some work through the company, who knows it might take off and then he wouldn't have to work for a company at all!
While you might be able to get away with creating a fake company just to use as a reference, it's very likely to backfire if they spend any time at all checking. It's easy enough to play the reference game while still being honest that you should do so.
I know many guys that are over 50 and had high paying jobs $200k+ in industries that got killed in the crash. (golf, real estate and finance) Only 1 of them was able to get a full time job and that took 3 years. You are pretty much unemployable if you are over 50 in this world. Especially if you previously made big money.
My best friend's wife was the manager of Human Resources for the state's power company. Not long after she turned 50, her position was eliminated and she couldn't find another job. She was overqualified. She finally went to temp help places and got a few weeks of work here and there, and wound up making a fraction of what she'd made before being let go.
I never suggested she look into being a provider, but she could have been a star in the ebony niche.

This is not always the case. Certain industries or skill sets...yes. It goes back to supply and demand. I'm not intimately familiar with finance or real estate industries...I work in web and data technology. If an employer can hire a 20 or 30-something yo for half the cost of a 50+ yo and get anywhere north of 50% production out of them....the math works in the employer's favor. Consequently, it will be harder for a higher-priced 50+ yo to get the same position. In my industry, programmers in a variety of specialties are in severe shortage. Big data/Hadoop, sas, hbase, hive, c#, Java, JavaScript, Mdx, SQL, ruby, HTML, flash, flex, html5, and on and on and on. If you have skill in any of these areas...you will not be limited by age whatsoever. We've hired four possibly even five (he looks old...not real sure his real age 
) 50+ yo programmers in the last 6 months alone. These 4/5 are in addition to several other 50+ yo's already on the team. And, we pay top dollar for these people because their skills are so valuable.
So, while I agree that what SFTD is saying is likely true in some industries/skill sets...it is not universally true. That's why continuous improvement is so important. If your skills exist in a marketplace where demand is slipping...then you are wise to shift so that you can maintain a competitive edge. Look at the trajectory of hiring in your industry or in jobs with your skill set:
1) are they hiring/are there new jobs in your industry or field?
2) are they able to easily fill all the openings or are there constant shortages?
3) if they are hiring, do the hires tend toward the recent college grad end of the spectrum, the older/experienced side, or some distribution across the spectrum?
If they aren't hiring people with your skill set...or if there are way more people seeking those jobs than openings available...it's a buyers market. This is bad for you and good for the companies. It can mean the value of that role will go down (not always). If there are more jobs than people to fill them...it's a sellers market. You want to continuously develop your skills so that you exist in a high(er) or growing demand field. Right now...everything is technology and data. Coders, programmers, scripters, developers, dbas, etc can write their own ticket.
Some people choose to 'stay put'. I'm not trying to be critical of their choice...but...there are natural consequences. It does no good to blame "the world" when your choice leads to its natural end and you don't like it. If you choose to eat mcdonalds 3 meals a day...you're going to be one of two things...dead or a fat ass. Those are natural consequences of that continued choice
Try being on company disability for over a year and trying to get into a company, lol. My old company legally had to re-hire me, even for jobs I was over qualified for… i applied for 40 jobs within that company and they rejected every application… even though I was still officially an active employee.
Same thing with other employers. "So, may we ask why you've been our of work for over a year?"
You have to tell 'em. Then when you do, you're an instant liability. I wanted to say to their blank faces, "Don't worry about it. I know you're illegally going to say 'We found someone better who fits the position' in an email, so I'll illegally go…
Anywhoo, I think it's six months. May have changed, I started applying and interviewing while still sick in five months after my leave started.
But your company idea is extremely amazing IMO. Saying, "I ventured out to start my business." I'm writing little magazine articles and things like that for samples, and have done a couple resumes, have a shit ton of my own writing done, etc. A portfolio, etc.

I need to get a job by the end of December and I've been "unemployed" for over a year and a half. However I know SOMEONE will hire me, even if it's McDonald's or Walmart. I think that most people who complain they are unemployed are only applying for jobs in their field and refuse to go to the bottom of the totem pole. So I was at my neighbors garage hanging out, watching the Bucks, drinking beer and talking to a friend of my neighbors'. He wanted to know if my co. was hiring. My standard reply depends on what you do (not that I fucking know because I want to leave).
Anyway, we start talking and this guy tells me he has been unemployed for a year. OK, I get it (I am not judging anyone). Then he starts to tell me his "story". And I became real pissed at this fucked up society we have created!!!!!!!!!!
3 companies have told him to his face "we don't hire the unemployed". How the fuck is this not ILLEGAL LIKE 10 FUCKING TIMES OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So then I come home and wadda ya know there is an article in the NY Times about this same shit.
So I am curious if a woman has been providing for several years "how does she explain that when she goes back to work"

For the record my advice to this guy was this: rent a mailbox at the UPS store. Incorporate a company for $99. Get a google voice mail box. Make up a company name and put that on your resume as your current employer. Fuck it. If corporate America plays dirt then you play dirt too. BTW this works for Providers as well.

I had to take a $12K pay cut. But it was Ok I was not married and did not have kids.
So I moved to a cheaper apartment, stopped going out so much and things actually got better. Go figure.
The job was about a step or 2 below what I had previously. But I could not take the 1st job anymore. I was bout to go postal on my boss. I mean I fucking hated this guys guts. Could not stand to be within 4 feet of him.
18 months later I got my dream job as an Investment Banker. So in the end it worked out.
But my point of the original post was that this is bullshit to tell someone we don't hire the unemployed.
IMO it is right up there with No Black, Irish, Jews or dogs.

Another thing… about the less pay thing… you're exactly right, a lot of people learn, (or start exercising their knowledge,) to condense their spending/need for things.
There are people who lose jobs but want the same lifestyle, so they deplete their savings, then start taking loans, then borrowing from family, then friends, then strangers, etc… it's crazy.
I'm eating easy mac. Not ordering room service, oh hell no lol.

After having provided for about a year, earlier this year, I decided to go back to being a "normal person" and applied for some entry level stuff. My age probably has a lot to do with this, but just claiming that I took time off to travel (and then talking about my travels) worked in that I got plenty of callbacks. That probably wouldn't work for a more long-term provider, but, just start your own business, right? That's my plan.
I'm not an economist, but I've read quite a few book on the subject so maybe I am an educated layman. We're in a recession. Many big companies aren't hiring because of the uncertainty, so maybe you can create your own future with an LLC and a bigger and better mousetrap or are a provider who is essentially a black market independent contractor. It really isn't anything more than this...As far as hiring goes, many times it is who you know or perhaps what you know, but usually it is who you know and whether you play well with others...
