Self-policing in Oregon

---------------
From CNN:

To balance their budgets, many states are going soft on crime. In Oregon, starting March 1 and continuing until at least June 30, courts will stop processing small-claims cases and certain misdemeanors including shoplifting, trespassing and prostitution.
---------------

This could be a great opportunity, not only for folks in Oregon, but for everyone in the US.  If activities are kept very low key and there are no complaints about prostitution or related activities there is certainly a possibility that the moratorium, at least against prostitution, will continue.  Further, if this 'trial' goes well it will become an example for other cities and states.

CHiPs are no longer making arrests for personal possession of marijuana in amounts less than 3 ounces due to the sheer volume of potential arrests and costs associated with prosecution.  Good news for those of us that do not have medical marijuana cards, but are still directed to used cannibis by doctors and psychiatrists for treatment of INSOMNIA (LordHelpMe!), anxiety, or depression, but are otherwise unable to take prescription medications for treatment.

P.S. And yes, this does mean I'm pro-decriminalization.  And I'm a Republican, too!  Go figure!  ;^)
