I just have my old laptop which is exclusively for these activities. I have it secured and locked down.
All my work in the real world is done on a second machine. You can buy a mid ranged laptop for $500 or so. About the cost of a session or two. Same for a cell phone. A new TracPhone costs $50 and an annual service of $99. I pay cash at Target, and there is no connection to the rest of my life. Being happily married, I am most concerned about security. Ed
Just turned on my computer [which I've been using for over two years] and the desktop was blocked by: "Let's finish setting up your computer"...inviting me to install Windows 365. There was no "decline" option, only a "remind me again in 3 days" option.
One if the "benefits" mentioned is that it will link my computer and phone, and all my connections. Wonderful so my wife and daughters might be able to access my bookmarks to TER and pornsights?
Any advice from IT experts? I wish to decline and stop the invitation from coming back. I wish I had taken a screenshot, will do so when it comes back.
Microsoft could be pushing Windows 365 down people's throats..
Now, I am about 7 yrs removed from the IT world, but I know that Win 365 is Microsoft's cloud O/S that you can rent. They came out with it last year. I would just keep using the "remind me" option until you can't do so no more. Make sure you back up all your data, all those gay porn videos of two guys blowing each other..LOL on external hard drive. If you don't have one, I would get a Western Digital hard drive for about $50.00 -$60.00.
If it's possible for you, I would highly urge you to move in the Apple world and get a MacBook. I haven't used PC since 2010 for personal use, and since I left corporate world in 2015, I haven't used one at all.
If you really want to nerd it out, I would get a Linux Distribution on your machine.. Ubuntu, Fedora. Debian are pretty easy to use. This way you can really taste the sweet nectar of Open Source, and then you will appreciate why all the nerds hate MS.
If you are “literate”, you can set up a separate Linux partition (choose you poison, I like Ubuntu) & boot into that one for your mongering activities...
Do you really think OP would have asked the question if he knew how to dual boot? C'mon man...
Maybe dual boot or Linux machine if he can get someone to do it for him, but not by himself..
I still think easiest is to get a MacBook. It's all plug and play. Apple O/S is free. They make their money selling hardware not thru O/S. Unless they completely change their business model, which I doubt they would, he won't get jammed like Microsoft is doing it to him.

But then you need to explain to the wife what the second computer is for. She will probably make some good guesses. You can try to hide it, but if she finds it while you are out of town she will throw it into the river...or something similar.
A hobby TracPhone is a good, and you can explain it as a "business phone" But she may wonder why she never hears you taking/making any business calls.
Keeping hobbyland secret at home make the online/phone security issues more challenging. I have been around the block a few times with this.
