Ladies, how do you go about verifying a new client who is self employed?

I had that happen today. I will not see anyone I can't verify.
I do think he was safe, but guess what, anyone can make up paystubds, id's etc.

I am just seeking advice, what do you do?

Is his company listed in the yellow pages? Also, you might want to do a reverse look up of his number that he gives you, if it comes up with the company name (or his name in some cases), I believe you should be fine (you can go to: anywho.com)  Has he seen any other provider's before? I hope it works out fine for you :) Btw, I see that you may be heading into Boston! :) Feel free to look me up!

I think this brings up the bigger question of "What is verification for?"

I am not questioning the validity of verifying someone, but what specific issues are you looking to the verification for?

Are you looking to make sure it's not LE, or a crank call?  Are you looking for some info you can use if the prospective client turns dangerous?

Provider references seem to cover a bunch of issues.  And there are enough providers that don't verify that you can shoot down the argument "I can't get references because, like you, no one will see me because I am self-employed."

What about date-check or one of the other services?

And are you really sure that employment is a good check anyway?  It would be easy enough to get verified using someone else's name and company.  How many providers actually check the ID of a client once they show up?

and the only info we provide to each other in a reference is whether or not they've seen him, and whether they would see him again.

...and, although I can't produce pay stubs, w-2s, and the like, I've got a website for my business.  It's VERY detailed -- far more stuff there than any cop in his or her right mind would waste time putting together to try to run a sting...

I've seen quite a few men who are either self employed or own  their own businesses. Most have business websites but escort references are my biggest verification. Those that don't I look them up in the ATT online directory. If I can't find their businesses via the internet and they don't have a reference, I decline the visit. Too many negatives sets off radars and verification shouldn't have to be that hard.

My biggest and greatest delimna continues to be on-site or last minute bookings. Escorts are hard to reach for references and I have to go on instinct. My biggest safety net is asking them to take a shower once they've arrived. I've never had anyone resist so i'm assuming i've never encounted LE knowing they wouldn't take a chance on exposing their wire but I could be wrong in this aspect.

Be careful Tygrlily
I was busted once. The LE asked to take a shower b4 the session began. I got everything ready and he went in and called his backup from the bathroom while the shower was running.

It could be pretty hard for verification. Especially if he works at home and his SO is at home also. You should require him to have provider reference. The problem with this is that he would have a provider who does not use a strick verification protocol. There are providers out that that don't require references. They go on gut feel/instincts if he is a traveling businessman.

Not being a smart ass.  Really curious.  What is the purpose of screening?  Presumably to tell you if a client is "safe".  ie. Not LE, and not prone to violence.

Wouldn't a reference tell you much more to that end than an employment confirmation would?

Unfortunately there is a person out there who is so fed up with the ladies wanting verification information that he is on a mission to find out as much information about the ladies in my area (real names, addresses, home phone numbers, cars we drive, and medical information he can possess and police records on how many busts) and outing us on a public board for everyone to see.  He claims it's time to turn the tables on the ladies.

Only difference is most of us are professional and do not use information against our clients, even in the event of minor injustices (shorting us money and such), it is not posted on a public board and we definately do not share such intimate details about our clients.  Usually the verification process is just a simple yes, I've seen him and he's a great guy, have fun!

I know it's a pain in the butt to have to go through the verification process, but please try hard to understand where we are coming from.  Does it protect us 100%?  No.  However, it can increase the chances of having an appointment with a true gentleman and helps build up the trust between clients and providers and shows a sign to us providers that you are willing to show that to us.

Unfortunately when things go wrong (and again, I'm not talking about a simple, he shorted me money so I'm going to out every detailed information about the guy, as i feel that is wrong and unprofessional), we don't have anybody to protect us in most cases.  I have known ladies personally who have been robbed while on tour, tied up and gagged, and raped when the person started getting violent and when you try to make a police report, more times than not the police will turn things around onto the girl.  Again, there are ways to fool the girl in the verification process, so we always have to be on our toes and watch out for any red flags and always trust that gut instinct.  If it doesn't feel right, feel free to leave as both parties need to be comfortable in order for it to be an enjoyable experience~

It is fun to start of with a shower with a provider that you have never met before. Excellent. Have to be careful because things sometimes can get to hot. Nothing like bathing each other. Make things much alot more fun as things progress.

LE has all the resources in the world if they're doing their jobs.

They have associations with businesses that ARE listed on the internet and in the yellow pages that will verify employment....

They have business cards and credit cards and special cell phones ....

be careful ... but don't fool yourselves.

That correct, they could use those fronts to become members of rs2000. But not date check. That is why a well known provider is the best reference. There are well know providers who have a small internet presence but are low profile, but high profile on the private (ladies message boards).

Screening is the PROVING, or the ID-ing of somebody through verifiable sources - driver's license, job verification, address, phone number, etc. (Pretend you're in the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" and you are proving to everyone who you are.)
That's the first half - proving who you ARE. The second half is proving who you're NOT (job verification).

References don't PROVE anything and can easily be mistaken, and are rather faulty. Many of us providers in SD don't use references at all and regard them as heresay 'fluff'. All references do is say that "Yes, she's seen him". Seen who? How does she know that the person you're talking about is the same person SHE'S talking about and that THAT is the person you will end up being with!? And who is SHE - that you would take her word for it and risk your safety?? References are for the purpose of seeing that he wasn't dangerous, and was a gentleman. Again, if you're both talking about the same party..And you'd be amazed at how many people use people's TER handles..
Again, references don't ID him and that's what screening is..

Screening and references are two different things entirely. If a lady chooses to use references, that is her choosing, but it is not a provable, verifiable source so therefore is not a good Screening tool.

Let me know if that explains it, but I won't read your answer for a week, so you'll have to PM me, and wait until I get back.

Hasta.

This is a very good point Mega Pig and that is why you need to concentrate on what the information you get actually proves. For instance calling someone at work rarely actually proves anything. there are numerous ways to determine what someone does for a living. If they are an outcall appointment and are intheir own residence then determining that the residence is actually theirs and not on the market or in escrow is the most important thing. Their vocation means very little.

Nothing they say or provide you with means anything at all if you fail to check their ID. That is the single biggest mistake thatproviders make.

And for those of you who are so concerned about giving out your information you should make yourself more aware of how easy info is to get about you based solely on your e-mail address, IP , or telephone number. there are also hacks that can be used on numerous search engines such as Yahoo where different information can be entered into the fields than what is asked for(such as id name in the real name field or e-mail address in the last name field etc.)  and your private supposedly secure information will come up. This is obviously a deliberate programming feature as it will not produce the same results if you do yourself from your own computer or when logged on in your own id.

Search engines are powerful tools but knowing how to use them is the key to finding what you want or maketing yourself effectively.
