Seems like an odd way of scamming someone but . . .

Generally burner apps are more obfuscation than protection (from legal action) so pretty much any alternative phone number for my mobile phone app will work it it's decent.

I received a message this morning from My burner App CoverMe, explicitly stating that Apple has terminated CoverMe, and will not be able to purchase or renew my number, and effective immediately be unable to receive incoming calls or texts.
Has anyone else received these messages?
Is this some kind of scam?
I have been happy with CoverMe due to the ease and reliability.. However if I have to find another app, which one is the most reliable in terms of ease, and above all else maintaining my anonymity?  Thanks in advance everyone.

I second google voice; just start a new account with a fake name.
Then call your ATF's and tell them your new number so they recognize it.

I use Cover Me but am an android user, so I don't know. However, I would be suspicious about it and research it just like you did when you originally got the app.  Find their website and see what it says about availability on an Apple phone.  If that disagrees with your message it's likely phishing or scamming, so just ignore it.
