Are you talkin' to me?? (a side note on posting)

I've seen this often enough that I decided to post something. Chances are we just get in a hurry, but when you post a reply to someone, you must have that person's post 'open', hit post reply, and then you are replying to THAT person.

I see some of the replies are meant for the original poster, or somebody else, but they are simply replying to the last one they read, or whichever one is 'open' and it looks as though you are addressing that particular person when that wasn't your intention.

So, wherever your post is showing under, and indented, is the person you actually ended up 'talking to', whether you meant it to be that way or not..

Not trying to be a School Marm, here, but it could cause some misunderstandings..

Several times before, I tried responding to the original poster, but then my posts come at the bottom of the thread :( I think after a certain number of posts that are in a thread, you are then relegated to the bottom of that thread, no matter who you respond to.  I seen these happen many times before ;)

Ahh...good explanation for why I've been noticing it so much lately!
Yes, the posts go in chronological order.

You're just the cutest - are we going to Seattle??

The posts go in chronological order but the indents still
tell you to whom the reply is posted.

For instance, this reply is to your orginal post.

So if you are making a reply to the group, do you click on the initial post?

You don't reply to the group you reply to a specific post.

If there's a bunch of replies to the original post, and you
want to add something, then you can reply to the original
post and say something like "I agree with many of the points
discussed but would like to add...".

hope that helps
