Immediately after going through the entrace of boys town in Nuevo Laredo, the police searched my bag, emptied my pockets, and said they were going to put me in jail for possession of a pocket knife--the blade is shorter than that required by law here.  They talked of a $500 to $1000 bond.  They were bribed with $70 cash and $170 in travelers checks--but the bribing took awhile--it took some convincing that my travelers checks were allright.  Needless to say, I got out of Mexico as fast as possible after, that and will never return.
