Right Number Wrong Hotel

I had an appointment scheduled with a well reviewed provider the other day. I arrived at the hotel and texted to let her know I had arrived. She promptly texted back a room number and I was on my way.  When I got to the elevator I was confused because the room number was 423 but the hotel only had three floors.  I started frantically texting to make sure I was in the right hotel.  She realized her mistake and texted me the correct room number 243.   I was lucky this time, but twice before I have knocked on doors where the occupant wasn’t expecting me.  An awkward apology by me, and I hit the stairs to put distance between us before trying to contact the provider again.
Any similar situations out there?  Is there a better way to handle it?  I’m generally trying not to draw too much attention to myself, and these encounters don’t help my blood pressure.

These things happen to everyone at some point. In this business, we all think someone one is watching us all the time but that is very rarely, if ever, the case. People are constantly walking in and out of hotels and unless you really act crazy, lol, no one will even notice you.

I would just feel bad about disturbing someone.

I’m baffled. I’ve read a few posts this week regarding these mistakes. Why? Idk.

Briefly: Agency Provider went to wrong room. Occupant invited his surprise visitor in. Agency got call from expectant client about a no show, figured out what happened, and called the wrong room to explain the situation. Everything was resolved happily for all concerned.

Had scheduled a meeting through a local agency, at the time fairly reliable.  I was given  the location and, upon arrival, the room number.  After knocking tow separate times without anyone answering the door, I went back to lobby and texted the agency, giving the hotel name and room I was given.
Several minutes went by and I finally get my answer. She sent me to the wrong hotel that was literally across the parking lot lot from th one I was supposed to be at!

It took a bit for my nervs to settle but the girl and I had a good laugh about it.

Many moon ago, she gave me the correct room number and hotel name and for some dumb ass reason, I went to the hotel _next door_ to where she was.  I couldn't figure out why the room number she gave me didn't exist until I realized I was at the wrong hotel.  Fortunately, I figured that out just as security was wondering why I was wandering through the halls.  lol

it was totally my fault for not paying close attention, I went to the wrong hotel room and a different guy answered, I even went inside! (Have no idea why he let me in) lol .. was such a confusing and awkward situation.

I reached out to one of my ATF/local providers in my area.  It had been a little while since I had last saw her but the text conversation was essentially the same e.g. "hey, are you you available to meet at (insert time/day here)"  She responded with a yes and I proceeded to her location.  Except she forgot to mention to me that she had moved.  So I make my way to her place, park where I normally park, send her the "I'm here" text, to which she responded "I'm ready, come on in".  I make my way to the door, knocked, and hear the door handle jiggle then open.  My body momentum was going forward toward the door when I realized the person that answered wasn't the provider I was there to see.  I caught myself, half embarrassed/half confused.  Luckily the lady wasn't rude and didn't spazz out on me.  I apologized and said I must have the wrong apartment, backtracked my steps and made my way back to my car.  I then texted said provider and asked if she had moved and explained to her what just happened, she replied with how she was sorry for not telling me she had moved into a new home and gave me her new address.  We had a laugh about it later, and of course she made up for the miscommunication.

... a few years ago, I got to her hotel room, knocked on the door and no answer. I thought I could hear someone but no reply. She explained to me later that she had gotten sick (I suspect drugs were involved.) I returned the next morning and she gave me a freebie to make up for it but her performance was desultory at best. Lesson learned; not sure what lesson but... :)

LOL I had that same thing happen to me with a now UTR lady. She had been leasing an incall apartment with another lady and she told me she wasn't renewing the lease - but I figured she was retiring then.

I made an appointment and we were set and I figured her lease wasn't up yet. I showed up and texted that I was there and she replied with the apartment number. But is was different than the one I had been seeing her in. When I pointed this out she confirmed the number was correct. Then she gave me the full address and it was different. She never told me she was now borrowing a friend's incall when she had a client to see. Fortunately it was only about a 10 minute drive from where I was.

Same exact thing happened to me! That's not a story I thought I'd ever hear.

First I think I'm going crazy. Then I'm calling the booker telling him there's no such room number. In desperation (clock is running), I ask the front desk about the address because I couldn't see it anywhere obvious. They could tell I was flustered, made worse by having no cash to pay for my coke. They took sympathy, told me "It's next door. Take a breath and enjoy the coke on us."😂 I was feeling a little flustered and confused at that point.😳

I just remembered one of my big mistakes. I was out to visit my hostess in Manhattan (NYC). She had recently relocated from Lower Manhattan to Midtown. For those unfamiliar with the terrain, see the map, the avenues in NYC run N-S. The streets in NYC run E-W (river to river). Street address numbering starts at Fifth Avenue = "zero". So, 20 West 48th St is just off of Fifth Ave to the west and 20 East 48th is also just off of Fifth Ave in the other direction, to the east. 350 East 48th St is almost in the East River. 350 West 48th St. is over near 9th Ave and that's a long haul from the East side.
.
I got her new address ahead of time so I knew where I was going. I had to ring the buzzer a couple of times (unusual) but finally got an answer from an older "civilian" woman. Whoops! I went to the WEST side and I should have gone to the EAST side!! If it had been a matter of 10 West to 10 East, I could have crossed 5th Ave and been there in two minutes but it was a longer haul. I called my hostess to explain my mistake and she said not to worry. I was late but all turned out well, very well, as it happens, as she asked me stay longer than my planned on hour.
.
Trivia: Some movies and TV shows use realistic sounding but fake addresses. Lucy and Ricky Ricardo (I Love Lucy) lived at 623 East 68th St. which would put their apartment in the East River!

With few exceptions, most subways run N-S. They don't help you to get crosstown from West X to East X quickly.
.
With few exceptions, crosstown street traffic is horrendous. (Example Exception: 1 AM to 4 AM.) Also, most E-W streets alternate one way. If you are on the West side on a street with one-way traffic running E to W, you have to go one block N or S to get on a street running W to E.  Do NOT get into a cab going opposite to the direction you need to go because the cab will hit 3 extra traffic lights "turning around." Minimally, walk to the Avenue for a cab that can make just one L or R turn to go in your direction.
.
I'm a NYer. I'm pretty fleet of foot. I have a pretty good idea of when I can out-walk competing modes of transport.

The most famous are 42nd St., and 125th St. Some have actual names like Canal St. and Houston St.  For out-of-towners like Fester I point out that the latter street is pronounced "House-ton."

I was going to see a long time favorite, she is always spot on for directions. Great description of lobby and elevator location. I proceed to the correct floor number and room. Just before I knocked something told me to reconfirm room # ,
something I rarely do at this point. Sure enough she had made a mistake on the room number. I never knocked so things went OK. From that day forward I always check my phone before knocking.

I usually call upon their arrival and have them stay on the phone till they have entered my room. It makes me feel more comfortable that I know where the person is in the hotel, when they are arriving at my door so they are not knocking.

I went to the room number the booker gave me and knocked, but no one answered.  I listened closely and I could hear a baby crying in the room and a woman taking.  I texted the booker, who got back to me after a few minutes with the correct room number, which was just across the hall.

I've always wondered if that was the provider's second room.  Perhaps she traveled with her kid an a friend (to watch the baby while she was working her appointments).  If she did that, she would have booked two rooms, one for business (to host clients) and one for personal (for her friend and baby).  Maybe she was confused and gave the booker the number for the person room instead of the number for the business room.

Near DC there were two same brand hotel towers across the street from one another.  I came up through the subway to the wrong one!  Fortunately when I knocked at the wrong room no one was there and we quickly figured out my error with a text.  It's still a bad initial feeling when things don't go right from the start.

One escort sent me to the wrong apartment on purpose.  She was peeking out her door opened a crack as I came down the hallway headed for the wrong apartment and flagged me in.
.
I've also been given the wrong apartment address on purpose (multiple buildings near each other.)  When I text'd to get the apartment number after arriving she directed me to the other building.
