Why are you jumping thru so many hoops for this guy?  We have met in the past and there is no reason that a provider as sweet as you should put up with this grief.  Move back to LA and continue see the gentlemen who appreciate you.

Ok dig this. Setup a booking at an exclusive hotel in LV, one where you must have a key to get to the room. Tell my friend that he should call me from the lobby a few minutes before our scheduled time. He does so. But the number he's calling from is local, unlike the cell he's been calling me ever since he got in town, so I ask him where he left his cell, "Back at his hotel, 20 minutes away." he says. He's now calling from the lobby phone.

Now, this gent refused to go through the screening process, boarded a plane for LV and was already on it when I got the email that we were scheduled to meet. Only spoke with him once when he was querying a few weeks back, no specifics given, just asking questions. I had told him about my screening process and despite my asking if I could ring his work discretely, he didn't let me do this first; he boarded a plane for LV and dropped me an email with a time and date. I am meeting a complete stranger in a room and I have no clue where this guy works, where he's from, etc. etc.

Based upon that info. or lack thereof, I'm not going to his room. He's coming to mine. So I spring for a nice place, double digits for a weekday and back we go to the story we go...

Calls me from the lobby from a number that wasn't the number he had called me from 2x when he got to LV. Again, it was the lobby phone. So we try to figure out what to do. Since he's not properly screened, if he kills me, I'm tracing his cell number from the grave so he says he understands and goes back to his hotel to get the cell. He says this will take about 20 minutes. An hour and a half later, 1/2 a bottle of champaign down the hatch, my cell rings...His cell. Okay, I'm keeping the booking because that's the right thing to do...despite the fact that it's much much later. I tell him that the elevators are keyed so wait by the elevators and I'll bring him up. I cover my slut wear in a business suit and go to the lobby. I get off the elevators and look around, tourists, gamblers, men, but no one approaches me, no one makes the right eye contact. I go out towards the main area, still nothing. So back up the elevators I go, get on my cell and ring him. He says he is right outside the elevators. We clarify elevators. I keep telling him which ones. He tells me to come to the front desk, that he will meet me there. I tell him no, that I am not going to display myself at the front desk, that I prefer to wait in the room or catch him by the elevators. Hello this is HB in a tight pink spandex stripper dress and 6 inch spike heels. Covered it a business suit, I still feel a bit obvious. I ask him "If I am very specific about location, will you please come to the elevators?" He says I have to come to the front desk.

I tell him I'm not going to do it, WHY????? I pack up all my stuff, checkout and drive home.

The question is:

Would a lobby hotel phone allow him to make a long distance call? My cell phone isn't 702. What or who was this masked man and why did he need me to come to the front desk?

You're way too hot and experienced to put up with such childplay. Forget the money, men will always want to meet you. You have the right to be cautious and picky!

"Would a lobby hotel phone allow him to make a long distance call?"  If you mean can he call from the lobby and have it appear on your caller ID as a foreign call, the answer is absolutely!  Simply by making a three way call to another number first. The third party then calls your number and what you see is that number.  Hope it helps and that I didn't misunderstand Heather.

To answer your specific question:  yes, by using a calling card like AT&T.  If you use your hotel room telephone to make a long distance call using your calling card (e.g., 1800CALLATT), then the recipient's caller ID would display the number of the hotel.

I'm shocked you went as far as you did. This was a guy you hadn't seen before; he refused to go through your screening process; and to top it off, he just e-mailed you to say he was on his way and for you to meet him. How can anyone TELL you you're supposed to meet them? Do you normally do things this way?

As for your questions, I believe lobby phones allow toll-free numbers to be called. What was he up to? Don't know, but he sure was acting strange. I think you were smart to leave.

This is as bad as your other experience where you drove all the way to LA to meet a "friend" whom you have seen before at a discount and then he ended up flaking on you.  You ended up on the losing end because of the drive-time, mileage, meals, etc.

But this guys' behavior freak me out...  Why wouldn't he go through the screening process?  Why wouldn't he wait by the elevator as he was told?  I think he can definitely make long distance call from the hotel's public phone using a calling card or something.  However, his behavior makes me very suspicious.  Sorry you have to lose out on your time and the expense of renting the room HB... :(

I think you went above and beyond the call of duty here.
No way should you have been put to the extremes you
had to go thru for this fellow.
Maybe he was using the lobby phone and calling with a
calling card?  I have no idea.... the bottom line is
did you feel the least bit uncomfortable?  yes, then
boogie on out of there!
Sometimes we dont take our own advice, and I think this
was one of those times for you!

forget it heather.. he was playing with you.  next time just take a small deposit.  Makes things easier for you and the client

The phone number that he gave took incoming calls a few days before the booking when I called him to tell him where we were going to meet. However, the phone number on the day of the booking and days after/even now, won't take an incoming call. Message says "caller cannot be reached".

You'll have me back soon if you would enjoy coming back around, I'm looking for a nice new place in LA. Will be back in about a month. You can catch me in LA about 2-3 days a week every week now for starters. Hope everyone is doing well.

With much love,

Heather B

PS. Has anyone ever been to a spa for a full day of pampering? Anyone ever done so for a session with a lady friend? Sounds like fun. I heard a few radio ads for full day massage, aeromatherapy, lunch, facial, manicure...sounds like this would be fun to do with a gent....ladies?

You are a very smart cookie, and perceptive at that Heather.  That whole deal sounded very fishy.  No sense in dealing with flakes and weird situations.  In my opinion, you did the right thing.  Good job!
