Your absolutely right! One thing I like to do is offer an extra 1/2 hour for free for a special vs. lowering my rate for an hour. What do you guys prefer?
I posted this on the NY board, however it is a general business thing, so am reposting it here,too...
This business can be so knuckleheaded. Frequently rates are posted in terms like one hundred seventy dollars for 1/2 half hour and two hundred twenty dollars for the full hour. The 1/2 hour is more expensive than the full hour (5.60 per minute vs. 3.60 per minute). But when you want to do an hour and one half, which is much more like a good time to my way of thinking, there is no one and 1/2 half hour rate. All that happens is you pay for the hour at the hour rate and the extra half at the half hour rate. Since I know that the 1/2 is a worse deal that the full hour, I always limit myself to one hour with the typical provider and extend to 2 hours with the exceptional ones (perhaps 3 persons I know who can go for two hours and stay fully in the groove the whole time).
WAKE UP, WILLYA !!! This business needs a one and 1/2 hour rate that makes sense !!! Going from $3.60 per minute for my hour to
$4.60 per minute for my hour and 1/2 is completely backwards pricing logic. You want to encourage your customer to spend more by offering a BETTER per minute price for the hour and 1/2, like $3.30 per minute (multiplied by 180 minutes= $297, so round it up to an even $300 and it begins to make sense)
For every guy that will spring for the extra half on a whim, there's ten who know better than to throw their money at a bad deal.
Well said - I totally agree! My favorite FBSM place charges 180/Hr, 140 1/2Hr. But one and 1/2 Hrs is 320. Absurd! They would get more of my $$$ if they went for 270 for 1 1/2 hours.
I've never heard of that! But I also know that prices in the US and in Canada are quite different. Have you tried independents? I think most of us are more flexible.

I agree with you as well. My 1 hour rate is $300 and my 90 minute rate is $400. I also offer 90 minutes for the 1 hour rate from time to time (like now). That special incentive works really well for me and I enjoy spending more time with the gent as well.
I do know of ladies that have rates for an hour and 1/2. Have you ever asked about it? Just wonderin.. I wonder, if you made it clear that you weren't 'negotiating' or dickering, but just asking? I mean, maybe somebody hasn't given them that perspective before and had them think about it. I wouldn't mind if someone asked if a 90 minute session was available ever and what would be the rate; whether or not I ever offered specials or would ever listen to some of their ideas for fun specials. Like sometimes I thought..hmmmm..I think if I saw the same gentleman x number of times in a row within x amount of time, I'd give him the next visit free. There's so much I would do differently if I could do this 'fulltime' (see my next post).
It's amazing what can happen if you just say something. Also, wanting to say this, too, here, but I can think of someone that wants a 'regular', and, if the guys knew that they can open lots of things up by being a 'committed' regular, it would be amazing. But, if he didn't ask..he won't know, will he?

In keeping with the spirit of this thread which is to remain anonymous I will post this under an alias rather than my actual TER handle.
I see that both Jenni and Kara Mia have reached pricing solutions which seem to work for them.
Sedona what you suggest has some merit however the ladies have done an excellent job of convincing us that we should never negotiate prices. In many cases there is no way to ask the questions that you suggest we ask without many of the ladies assuming it is a form of negotiation. So if a lady wants regulars she had better make that very clear and be willing to tell her customers what she is willing to do for regulars. In other words you can't have it both ways. You pound on the guys to never question pricing and then you expect he is going to initiate the exploration of all of these possibilities. C'mon now. Talk about wanting your cake and eating it too.
As to the pricing being all screwed up what else is new. Perhaps the funniest is seeing new ladies entering the profession and asking for a higher hourly rate than the local superstars such as NOSC, Mia, ALI, etc. It reminds me of a lawyer right out of law school who tries to bill at the same hourly rate as Johnie Cochran, Alan Dershowitz, etc. I hope the newbie can figure out why he does not have much business. This tends to help explain why some of these ladies stay in great demand especially when times are tough. IMHO when times are tough most clients are less willing to spend the same money on an unknown that they are willing to spend on a well known provider.
I don't think you will clear up all the illogical pricing that occurs but good luck in trying with the ladies of your choice.
As for me I know who most of the ladies are that I will see during the next year and since most are well known I will not have an issue with paying their price.
I've never personally run into this problem, but it's easy for me to believe that it happens. For one thing, we're kind of spoiled by the ladies who take the time and trouble (and have the computer literacy) to post on these boards. Most girls who get into this business are not among "the best and the brightest." Many are probably so "numerically challenged" that they wouldn't even get what this discussion is about. The mall sites have been discovered by "street ho's" who happen to have a friend with a digital camera.
Having said that, I find that pricing in my area (San Diego) is usually sensible in this regard. Either there's a flat hourly rate, prorated for extra time, or there are deals like Kara Mia described in her post.
And frank_zappa, you nailed it about the newbies. Particularly the young ones. I guess they figure we'll be so dazzled by their looks that we'll overlook the 4-level performance.
Lest anyone think I just like to piss and moan, please check out my reviews. I've seen a number of fine ladies who I'd be proud to call friends.
I do have a one and a half hour rate of $400. There are many ladies that do, one just has to do their homework to find out. If you do not see it posted, then ask if she does have one available.
I am still learning the ins and outs of the biz and a lot doesn't occur to me, until requested. Adjustments are made accordingly, as was the 1.5 time, when it was suggested to me. I very rarely do one hour times anymore and prefer it.
I had done a poll awhile back asking the gents as to whether they preferred more time or specials. The response was overwhelming in that gentlemen prefer more time for their hard earned dollars. So, I do not offer specials.
Everything I do is geared toward what gentlemen have told me they prefer. A few of my clientele have told me not to change a thing, for even though I do not advertise it, I always tend to spend the extra time which is self evident in my reviews. If the gents do their homework, then they would know as much and as I was advised, if the gent hasn't done his homework, then I probably wouldn't want to see him anyway and gives me that extra safety net from the unsavory types.

First off....its not like youre buying a calling card jeeze lol. From what I see, no matter how weird the numbers seem, to some girls it makes sense. Most girls factor in travel/lodging expenses and then add money for their time. Out of that 170, depending on the style of the girl, up to 80 or 90 bucks could be going towards expenses, so obvioulsy shes not making as much profit as she would if you were purchasing more time with her. So think of what they have to go through for just a 30 min session and youll see their logic.
But I also see your point of view and maybe you just run in to some "not so bright" providers. Try shopping around or if youre a regular of someone see if thats an option for you. From what I see providers are willing to go the extra mile for regulars...especially if youre a good tipper.
