I remember TBD and another local site in Boston in the early 2000s. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the local site. It was very active and lots of interesting characters. Anyone remember the name? It was my education on finding the right and wrong providers.

Let's go way back on the world's oldest profession. Did a search on the very first provider on TER and came up with provider #000001. Funny that it is a rip-off report on Austin / Ashlyn / Brigette at $240 an hour back in October of 1999. Is TER 20 years old? How did I not find it sooner? Was it another iteration? The more amusing thing is there are 9 pages, yes 9 pages of "rip-off" or "not worth it". What the hell, I guess guys didn't read the reviews back then.

Provider #000002 "Not found" and I guess we can't bitch about pricing as Provider #000003 was $400 an hour, but she was Beverly Hills location. If you posted her review today it would be WTH, $400 all covered?  LOL

Somebody else mentioned "the big dog" as if it were a competitive site. But if you put in bigdoggie.com it takes you to TER and I think it was .net back in the day, but that goes to a dead link. Then there was DecadentCity in the DMV. I think that disappeared in the 90s. If we go back even "further" there were the weekly ads and the yellow pages. I never used either, did the DC MP thing for quite awhile.

How far back do you remember? Any of you really old dudes use the 60s NY apartment brothels or southern trailers along the highway?

Memory lane, thoughts?

I remember when the Mustang Ranch was nothing more than a bunch of trailers out in Sparks Nevada, this was back in the mid seventies, and yes I have probably called literally hundreds of different women from both the Yellow Pages and the weekly ads in the sports sections, not to mention the weekly free papers that preceded CL and BP.

I also remember the local "tracks" where the SW's would congregate, and some of them I remember quite fondly, like the one in Waikiki where the local talent was actually of the charts. Harry Hines in Dallas was pretty good back in the day as well, and then of course there was Santa Monica Blvd in Hollywood in the 80's, it had everything from strung out junkies walking the streets to some pretty high line ho's cruising the Blvd in brand new convertibles.

Speaking of the Large Canine Board, I used to be a very active poster there some fifteen years ago and I actually found that site before I found TER, come to think of it I found TER through posting on the Large Canine Board.

Yes, the "good old days" I remember some of them well, other memories are a bit cloudy. lol

But we DO get tired of listening to it. Since 2012.
Dude, give it a rest.

Was the Mustang Ranch ever not a bunch of trailers hooked together? I remember Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Carson. That girl made me pop 5 times in an hour. So much learning that night; about the business, myself, and her. At one point she took it upon herself to see how many times she could make me pop. I was young college guy and 'wired'. I think she just touched my dick the first time and I popped. She was my perfect Unicorn, blonde haired, blue eyed, C cups, 5'8" with legs to heaven. She was also getting me drinks, and I don't drink. So she was slurping down old fashions like 7-11 slurpees. She was also just killing time so she didn't have to go back out and we were having a grand old time.

I'm not sure how I found TER, but it has been a god send. Never did Yellow Pages, didn't trust them. Did use the Washington Post Sports section to find the AMPs. I guess the Yellow Pages would take you into the early 70s. I missed the hey days of Santa Monica Blvd and Sunset Blvd. Never was able to partake in the stunning babes of Hawaii either. That was back when I was married. I remember seeing a few girls and am still floored at how gorgeous they were. We get the leftover or "old" K-Girls now.

I learned about TER in a news story in the New York Times. It said something like, "... and there are even websites where clients post reviews of their encounters ..." and I think it actually said The Erotic Review. (Or maybe it was something so easy to figure out using google.)
.
Before TER, I used the weekly tabloids sold in the Adult Stores. And I used usenet alt.sex.prostitution for info and reviews. And there was a great website with ads and descriptions of the NYC AMPs (mostly), RMPs, and a few other NYC places (e.g., Gentlemen's Choice and its predecessors Jewels = Jerry's = Jane's = ???).

Picked up a girl hitchhiking once when I was 21 or 22...gave her a ride, and she gave me one back! Wasn't until I got her to her destination  ( a truck stop ) that my bright ass finally caught on to what I got myself in to.
Young, dumb, and full of cum...

Because the date happened 3 months earlier then when I submitted the review (TER had rules about reviews being "somewhat" current in those days). Anyways, It was worded like shit, the review sucked so bad that as I look back, I'm glad it was rejected. But it took me close to year before I got the feel of what TER was all about. So after a few feeble attempts at submitting a reviews I hit on Juliette. Then on 3/2002 I submitted a review. Now that session I remember like it was yesterday, The bookstore in Westwood where they validated my parking ticket, the playhouse in the back of a very nice house, the mattress on the floor,  the water hose coming from out of the wall, just everything about her, even her hairy armpits. She was English so whatcha gonna do? It was a learning experience that I still hold kinda dear to this day. It even brings a smile to my face...

I think the reason you saw all the ROB reviews is that--like me--a lot of guys who found TER did so after a series of bad experiences and were only too glad to unload.

Yellow pages, back of magazines, and who the hell knew who would show up at your door.  My first paid visit was actually a streetwalker and I was in a borrowed car. What the fuck was I thinking, I know. I think she charged 40 for half and half.

The houses back then at least let you see the available girls before you picked one. Occasionally you found a good madam who had a good team of girls but the girls were still not always reliable; always coming and going and more of the latter than the former. And even they could be dodgy--I had 2 girls from otherwise reliable bookers rip me off. But who could you complain to?

When the internet took off at least you had a picture to compare to and it got a lot better.  But still far from foolproof. I'd say my shooting percentage went up from 60 to 80%. It took TER to get it above 95%.

That makes sense and why the very first provider on TER has 9 pages of negative reviews, guys venting. I think providers delisting hurts them more than it helps them. However, not in the case of bad providers. I'm to sure why TER allows providers to delist.

In fact, if you type "lareviewer.com" today, you will still go to TER.

Massage Parlors.  For the most part they were great.  I always would call ahead of time to find out if the ladies catered to my interests. Rarely disappointed.  The great thing about American Massage Parlors was if you didn’t like the lineup you could always check out another team of ladies down the street and around the corner.

Used to go to this low end hotel near Atlanta that catered to hookers. You just walked right up to them at the bar and an elevator ride later, you were in heaven.  Hotel had daily rates and weekly rates.  It went bankrupt and sat idle for many years.  10 years ago the neighborhood went through gentrification, and now A high end Hotel is situated there.  I have to admit I have an urge to stay there next time I am in the hood visiting friends, and to have a night cap with a high end hooker.

Early on the Escort services were decent.  Many guys have stated hit or miss,  in my case Good hits occurred 80 per cent of the time.  Actually I was a repeat client  for several of the escorts.  But when it was a bad fit, it was a bad fit. In the 80’s and 90’s I mixed my play in with American Massage Parlors on I-65; I 75, and I-95.  In some ways the Massage Parlors were a little more appealing because you showed up, you picked your babe, you got your jollies, and you moved on.  Did not have to wait on the Escort arriving.  Sometimes I had a date for 8, and was lucky if she showed up by 11pm;  those happened the few times I was expecting a tall slender blonde, only to be greeted by a short fat brunette.  That happens too, even today on bait & switch on the lower end websites.

Discovered TER 10 years ago, as well as p411.   With so many independents, the services are fewer and far between.  Right now I see 2-3 Indies for every trip I make to an American Massage Parlor.  Favorite age groups 25-35, all shapes, sizes, and colors!
