Ok I'm pretty sure I can't write any expenses off on my taxes for playing in this hobby.....*L*

Was just curious how providers go about working and taxes filing....or do you file at all?

knows that I am not boring, that is why I thought it was such a fantastic alias. It was for my utter amusement. Sorry if I am the only one laughing.

Since I also have my day job its a bit easier to do my taxes.

You need to pay, if the IRS ever audits, you are screwed (and you won't even enjoy it.)

First, most of the advice on that old link is so wrong it is shocking.

Yes, you have to file and pay taxes on your provider income.  If you don't, you are guilty of a felony.  Whether you will be caught is a whole 'nother question.

Yes, all legitimate business expenses are deductible - hotels, travel, lingerie.  This is true even if the business itself is not legitimate.  Save your receipts in case you are audited.

Finally, the IRS will not use this information to get you prosecuted for a misdemeanor.  I would recommend you put "consultant" or "entertainer" on your return to avoid embarrassment, but it really doesn't make any difference.

Thanks for the replies, I should let everyone know I'm not a provider.  I was just curious as to what they did for tax time.
